Florida Orthodox Jews Back Trump
Front Page Magazine ^ | September 3, 2016 | Daniel Greenfield

The provenance of this poll, very much Democratic, is dubious, and the sample size suffers from the usual problem when polling Jews in Florida, it's vanishingly small, yet the results are interesting in one particular regard.

Orthodox Jews as a group comprise the single outlier to this trend, with 46 percent identifying Israel as one of their top two voting priorities. They constitute the only group within the survey—including age, education and denomination—to identify as majority Republicans(67 percent). They hold extremely positive views of President George W. Bush (+69) and extremely negative views of President Barak Obama (-55). Sixty-six percent support Trump’s candidacy and show little chance of changing

This isn't much of a surprise.

Support for Obama vs opposition to him can be predicted by weekly synagogue attendance.

60 percent of Jews that attend weekly religious services disapprove of Obama. Only 34 percent approve.

Among those who don’t attend religious services, approval of Obama stood at 58 percent to 38 percent.

There are really two Jewish votes; the religious Jewish vote and the secular Jewish vote.

The trouble for the left though is that the religious Jewish population is growing and the secular Jewish population isn't.

great! but the challenge is to get the so=called “reform Jews” (leftist liberals) to vote for Mr Trump, also

(or is their self-hatred sickness incurable?)

i happen to think some of the leftist ‘reform Jews’ CAN be brought around to voting for Mr Trump, despite the depth of their self-hatred sickness...

but a part of the problem is that more devout or Biblically-centered or “Orthodox” Jews typically do not know very many of the “reform leftists”... and when they do, they tend to NOT regard them with any great favor (put nicely)
... so they often do not have occasion....or possess the patience to persuade the leftist types of much of anything

come to think on it, most of us folks who post on FR probably do not have much more occasion or patience trying to discuss much of anything with leftists

(Yes, I realize some FR’s have done well with this, CONGRATULATIONS, I am just speculating that most of the rest of us have not)

when I try to discuss the election with leftist friends, they keep parroting the same old canards or lies or distortions over and over and over again, like they are brain-washed, and also like they’re zombied they refuse to consider any moderation or exceptions to these distortions

They’ve been zombified ...

The challenge is not to get the reform Jews to vote for Trump, it is to acquaint them with their religious heritage and get them to live lives of Torah and mitzvos. Then voting for someone like Trump would come naturally because they would see the moral bankruptcy of liberalism.

its nearly as bad among Catholics. The self hate. Now the disease is spreading to many mainstream protestants.

very astute observation, that the self-hate is a similar phenomenon in Roman Catholicism and now even Protestantism.
I had not called it that for the RCC and Prots but you are CORRECT, the symptoms, the problem of unbelief inside the congregations (and clergy).... are essentially indistinguishable so I should probably use the same terminology. “Catholic” or “Christian” politicians who promote mass-scale abortions or assaults on Christian schools and faith are no more Christian than are
“Jewish” politicians who similiary attack their people and faith teachings. all sickos and all very damaging
thanks

Thank you that is very very accurate, astute.
I was caught up in the rush of current events, there being so very very little time before people start voting ...
but in the larger (and probably longer) picture, your point is far superior, thanks!

(you will excuse me for citing this, but I can’t help recalling what one good Jew taught a few years after the “Jewish canon” was completed (which is a way of saying that I personally think this makes a valid point:)...”Do not give dogs what is holy; do not throw your pearls before swine. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.” Matthew 7:6 in the Christian Bible. Of course, that is a vivid statement of Hebrew Scriptures (such as Psalms 9:8, 23:9, and 26:4), so everyone can agree it makes a point.

Scoffers like “liberal” Jews or “cafeteria pro=abortionist Catholics” or “post-Christian Protestants” like maybe PCUSA, etc...... such people are not likely to respond to any repovals or calls or invitations to return to their faith traditions or Biblical teachings. At least, not before voting starts....?

But anyway, all excuse and diversions aside, YOU ARE CORRECT and I thank you for your note!

With this in mind,

We always hear about Jewish voting. That’s a population of 4 million in America that went 69% for Obama. Yet, catholics are about 69 million and break 50% for Obama.
Worse, the jewish vote is overwhelmingly found in NY, FL, and CA. Catholics are well distributed.
So who really hurts us more? 50% of 69 million well distributed, or 69% of 4 million in 3 states, 2 of which are solid dem?

Also a few notes. Jewish people living ex-pat in Israel were the most reliable GOP voters in the last 2 elections above 90%, only exceeded by some counties in Texas and Oklahoma. Additionally catholics who are active in church vote GOP. The shopping mall non-demoninational protestant churches simply baffle me and almost seem like the unholy love child of a real-estate training seminar, and a new age Sedona guru.

Seems like the worst voters are the ones who are ‘culturally’ members of their religion but not devout.
That’s just my take.

The “progressive post-Christian” Protestants and the “leftist cafeteria Catholics” hurt us much more DUE TO THEIR MUCH LARGER NUMBERS in more states... but all three “groups” do us considerable damage, yes.
They are all fish of the same pond.
They all do not follow very much, if any, of their Biblical faith traditions.
They all agree on 99 percent of their outlooks....which are largely anti-Godly, communistic/socialistic/statist, and
They all vote in unison, too.

psL I do not consider these people Catholics, Jews, or Protestant Christians. They adore false idols (state, socialistic or commie politics, self, worldly things, sometimes money, power, you name it... most all of the traditional false idols that the Biblical tradition teaches against, opposes
I wish it were possible to get these reprobates to stop using the titles Christian, Catholic, or Jewish. This one simple step alone would remove a great amount of confusion!!!

I have high hopes in this election that many groups are going to have the highest support for the GOP candidate that we’ve seen in decades. Black churches are an example. Something is happening in the black community for Trump.
I think it is that they can see that he likes them, and is sincere. Another element in the back community is the younger set who admire his attitude and success. Having spent a lot of time behind the 8 ball, they like how he handles himself in the same position.
There is a tidal wave coming.

Well stated. They are really more like pirates sailing under a flag of convenience.

yes, they are false labelled

not anything new, tho.... just our most recent affliction of the same deceitful kind of people who masquarade under false pretenses.... as was observed (and cautioned against) 2000 years ago,

“Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16By their fruit you will recognize them. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?: (Matthew 7:15-16)

Verily, there is nothing much new under the sun...

Israel will be mainly Orthodox by 2030.

Importantly, Orthodox Jews are also the fastest growing demographic in Israel.

“The Orthodox population will number 1.1 million people by 2019, compared with 750,000 in 2009. By 2059, the projected Haredi (Orthodox) Jewish population is estimated to between 2.73 million and 5.84 million, marking a 264%-686% increase.”

Currently, the *total* population in Israel is only about 8 million, with 2 million being Arab. So, 6 million total Jews right now. Critically, non-Orthodox Jews have a much lower birthrate.

Bottom line: If the next president has two terms, by the time he leaves office, Israel will likely politically be dominated by the Orthodox.

The trouble for the left though is that the religious Jewish population is growing and the secular Jewish population isn't.

Religious Jews marry very young and have lots of children. Secular people of all types countenance birth control and abortion.

The Catholic vote is much more dependent on region/state than the Jewish vote, there are states in 2012 where the Catholic vote went 70% pub and states where it went 70% dem. So it is more useful to actually count the Catholic vote by the electoral college. For instance, Romney actually won the Catholic vote in 2012 by a landslide by the electoral college by the states that did exit polling. Also, the Catholic vote is much more predictive based on race/ethnicity than the Jewish vote. CA is so Hispanic and leans so dem that it actually pulled the Catholic vote as a % slightly dem in 2012, despite states like NY actually going pub per the catholic vote, something that maybe hasn’t happened since Reagan.

But as you say, the Catholic vote would actually mean something if it went 70% nationally either way, the Jewish vote could go 100% either way and might not affect a single state.
