I’m believing in His word: “Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Do I believe He has the power to overcome? Absolutely.

I also believe it is that much more so for those who ask Him to.

And, as you say, it is God who prompts even our faith.

"but walk around preaching that this “Jesus” actually returned to earth, and was reincarnated as Ronnie Van Zant and sang vocals for Lynyrd Skynyrd...."

The whole point of the Bible is to follow the one true God.

First Commandment. It tells us the most important thing is the identity of God.

“first identified in the Nicene Creed in 325 AD”

False, Jesus and the Father being one is asserted in the very first verse of the Gospel of John:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Yes indeed. HE starts and finishes the good work in you. Salvation is, from beginning to end, in HIS hands. He doesn’t do it through a false gospel. All those God the Father teaches will come to Christ and be saved. (John 6:45). Every single person God purposed to save will be saved. Every single man given to Christ by the Father will come to Christ and be saved (John 6:37).

Simple answer is no they are NOT the same. The Nazarene is fully God and fully human He is The Word and Creator of all Creation. He is the fulfilled if the law. He is the author of my Salvation. He is part of the Trinity

Yeah but CS Lewis nails it when he asks who do you think Jesus is? He is fully God and Fully human....Mormons don’t acknowledge that. They don’t believe in a trinity

No they don’t. Look at the church creeds ....they all state Jesus as being of one substance with the Father coming down to earth hence Jesus is fully God and Fully human

You may not puck and chose which verse you want to use today. On that basis I would suggest we all go hang ourselves because Jydas did

Misuse and misapplication of scripture is profane God.

Mormons believe Jesus was a created spirit-being that later became a god. This is heresy.

You'd think after reading John 1:1 that would be the end of the discussion.

Mormons do not believe in Jesus as revealed in the Word.

The initial question was problematic. You asked, "If a Mormon is reading John 3:16 in the KJV and believes in Jesus, Is he saved?" IF the person in question is already a Mormon, we would have to have an idea of what kind of Mormon.

A devout Mormon already believes in the Jesus preached by Joseph Smith, and that Jesus is no more a Savior than Jim Caveazel. To be a professing Mormon is to have believed in the Jesus Joseph Smith preached, not the Jesus Paul preached. And there are huge differences.

In the same vane, if this 'Mormon' is reading John 3:16 seeking God's guidance, well then that person has not yet cast their belief in the Jesus preached by Joseph Smith and is open to the Holy Spirit leadership.

Could you clarify what sort of Mormon you had in mind with your initial question to SkyDancer?

So, you don’t think the Lord saves those who call on His name as He promises?

Of course you do.

And what is that name? Who is that? Jesus tells me exactly. But a false Christ is NOT the same

So, since John 3:16 is not a false gospel, then Jesus saves those who believe in Him through that word (and others).

Whether they’re Swahili, Arab, Zarathrustrian, Islamic, Rostafarian, Mormon, Baptist, etc. when they believe in the gospel.

And then God finishes the work. That’s what I believe.
