IS AMERICA BLESSING GOD?
www.intouch.org ^ | JUNE 01, 2015 | Charles F. Stanley

Posted on 05/05/2018 3:03:08 AM PDT by Patriot777

Psalm 33:12 teaches, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance.” Our Creator has certainly blessed America in tremendous ways:

Abundant natural beauty can be found all across our land, including tropical beaches, green valleys, rich farmlands, towering mountains, and the Great Plains. We have a godly heritage. Fifty-two of the original 55 founding fathers who wrote our Constitution were Christians, and they established our country on Judeo-Christian values. Our land is blessed with plentiful natural resources, including water, oil, ore, and fertile farm land. America’s free enterprise system allows almost anyone the opportunity to rise from poverty to wealth. Imaginative entrepreneurs have created all kinds of inventions to improve our lives. Compared to most nations in the world, the United States has a high standard of living. We enjoy the liberty to speak our minds, worship as we choose, and live undisturbed, private lives. Our spiritual heritage is strong. We have been blessed with intellectual spiritual giants such as Jonathan Edwards, George Whitfield, John Wesley, and Charles Finney. Through the years, pastors, evangelists, and Bible teachers have sustained that godly heritage. Why would God bless America as He has? I believe the reason is that He intends for us to influence the nations of the world. Not only are we an example of liberty and democracy, but we also have the resources and manpower to take the gospel around the world—and in many respects, the church has done just that. But what about the country as a whole?

America’s Response

Sadly, we have taken God’s hand of blessing for granted, declining to bless Him in return.

Pastor Stanley walks with the Lord as Enoch did, for such a time as this he was born. Otherwise, I know God would have taken him Home!

Unpopular opinion here, but whoever stands with Israel will fare better than those who stand against.

Pastor Stanley, if you're referring to Charles Stanley, has gone off the rails in recent years, doctrinely. I do not trust him or his ministry much anymore, nor do I trust anyone who broadcasts on any of the so-called Christian cable networks.

That said, I think it can be said that God once blessed America, but that His hand of blessing AND PROTECTION has definitely been taken away and now we're in a state where the only reason His divine judgment has not fallen is because of the faithful few that are still amongst the American population.

But once those few are taken out of the way, just as Lot and his daughter's were taken out of Sodom and Gomorrah, this nation will finally receive its "just rewards" for spitting on His blessings and the freedoms He gave us.

Charles Stanley, has gone off the rails in recent years, doctrinely.

Used to listen to his radio messages on my way to work every day. Was a few years ago, but he seemed solid doctrinally.

So what happened? Did he get into that believe-it, confess-it thing?

Are you, perhaps, thinking of his son, Andy? He is the one who is unsound...I think Charles Stanley is fine.

No, I was replying to Post #3, which said that Charles has gone off the rails recently. Was wondering what’s up.

We don't bless God. He blesses us.

We're very lucky. God continues to bless us despite our sinful nature. That doesn't mean He always will.

The Lord is merciful, kind and patient with humanity but is not shy about delivering a corrective kick in the butt when necessary. Those who reject Him get to stew in their own corruptions unless and until in hopes of turning to Him. Unfortunately some never will and choose eternal separation instead of His salvation gift.

Maybe; maybe not but God has blessed America by sending us President Trump.

Fifty-two of the original 55 founding fathers who wrote our Constitution were Christians, and they established our country on Judeo-Christian values.

They created a secular and republican form government, but one which can only be maintained if the citizenry is God fearing.

It will not survive if the godless in this nation continue to advance their secular religion of homosexuality and perversion.

What is the reason you think God removed his blessing on America?

I believe abortion is the reason.

A Nation can’t do anything - it’s individuals that God looks at - when you get to a Nation, you are just using statistics to represent what polling and observation tell you is a ‘most likely’ indication.

So now as a reward for all our blessings, Christians are persecuted in America by hate filled, bigoted atheists, corporations, the military, anyone who wants a little attention. One person feels bad about a cross on public land and gets it torn down, military chaplains are told not to mention Jesus outside of their chapels, business people are persecuted for standing for traditional marriage, prayers in schools are ancient history and on and on and on. So our problems continue to mount up and we wonder why.

America’s always had a strong religious streak, but whereas it used to find its expression in Christianity, now all the zeal and fire is with the intolerant SJWs and liberals, who seek to impose their religion (totalitarian socialist doctrines) on the rest of us.

When I got to this part of the post --> ".... Jonathan Edwards, George Whitfield, John Wesley, and Charles Finney. ..." I stopped taking the article seriously.
Jonathan Edwards and George Whitfield paired with John Wesley and Charles Finney just doesn't work for me. They are the opposite poles theologically of each other, that wouldn't have anything to do with each other if they lived now days in the 21st century.

His son Andy is the one that went way off the rails. Charles Stanley is still faithful to the word.

I understand why, as a calvinist you would have issues with Charles Stanley. To dismiss the article because he makes a point about giants in theology that have come from our great country misses the point. The point was about great men of faith, regardless of theological viewpoint. Unless of course theological views on nonessensstials is a matter of fellowship breaking with you.
