Last time Detroit was in financial trouble there was talk of selling off all the contents of the Detroit Art Museum.

The Roman sect is collapsing. The Church is doing just fine. Christ will always preserve a remnant for Himself.

“Decommissioning must not be the first and only solution to be thought of, nor must it ever be carried out with scandal on the part of the faithful” but should recall, at the same time, the “constant ecclesial teaching which, while teaching the duty to protect and preserve the goods of the Church, and in particular the cultural goods, declares that they have no absolute value, yet in case of need they must serve the greater good of the human being and especially in the service of the poor”.

The first of the eight beatitudes is:

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

What better could serve the poor in spirit than traditional Catholic churches?

That “stuff” is not the pope’s to give away.

It all belongs to the Church as a window into what Heaven might be like.

Will they take away our hope that we will be surrounded by beauty and comfort and love just to satisfy a false need to pretend that giving it away would somehow take away poverty and suffering.

This man Francis has got to be held responsible for his apostasy.

Then we get a real Pope.

As rumors of sexual misdeeds swirled, Cardinal McCarrick became a powerful fundraiser for the Vatican

In 1988, McCarrick co-founded the Papal Foundation, a nonprofit organization that raises millions for the Vatican. He sometimes rushed to the side of the country’s wealthiest Catholics in their times of personal crisis, following up to raise money later, according to two people who witnessed such interactions.

I fear under Bergoglio, the Catholic Church will go the way of K-Mart. You start closing a few and the domino effect will follow.

You can’t do any good for the poor from the Vatican. It has to happen in the Church parish. You shut those down and society withers.

religion is strongest when it has to struggle good times breeds rot within the hierarchy of all churches... the reason for the lack of religious devotion is the lack of persecution... go to any place Christians are persecuted and you see real faith in god.

No, read it: “if necessary” means taxing us through socialism to avoid selling off the “Church goods”...

Go ahead and help the poor, but hey, when there were pedophiles raping little boys, then you should instead go ahead and file for bankruptcy?

I had the same thought,
"THE PAPAL FOUNDATION & MCCARRICK’S CONFLICT OF INTEREST"

The money requested by Francis was sent to a hospital in debt due to (accused of) money laundering.

“All to ‘help’ third-worlders who will always hate Catholics anyway.”

Third world countries south of the Rio Grande are predominantly Catholic.

If you mean the Roman Catholic Church has collapsed you’d be more accurate. The true ekklesia is still going.

They are going to need the $ for legal fees as the Govts are beginning to move against the Church’s defense of pedophiles.

I agree. May I add that if he seriously wanted respect he can start by selling off a few of the priceless art treasures in the Vatican basement. Legend has it that there are over 2 square miles of objects of inestimable worth.
