it wasn’t racism - the neighbouring nations were all Semites and related to the Hebrews - it was ethnocentrism.

In any case - that was for the Jews and their pagan neighbours of the OT times only

Just what “Christian belief” is that? Some Christians think that way, but it’s contrary to Christianity.

We don’t need this kind of crap - people tarnishing Christianity with their peculiar non-Christian beliefs and practices.

Not all people who show up in church are Bible scholars. Neither are all the millions who professes a belief in Christ.

The media likes low hanging fruit whenever it benefits their narrative.

We all know the media will swat at whatever/anything juicy some “Christian” has teed up for them. This was just too juicy for the media to not make a “news” story.

I know exactly where it comes from and it has nothing to do with any marriage scripture.

I was taught that because of the "Tower" (Babel or whatever you may call it from Genesis 11:1–9) that race and language went hand in hand and that the yellow people spoke Chinese, Japanese; the brown people spoke Island languages, spanish, etc.' black people spoke another and the "white people were further divided into ethnicities. This was to prevent another "Tower" event as in Genesis.

This was taught in an Independent Baptist Church. Black people who came to the church sat in the back row and were told that they were welcome to stay for that service and then they would be given a list of black churches they would be more comfortable in. 1970's. My mother didn't know about any of this. Kids have big ears.

So, according to the "Bible teachings" I had you were not to intermarry outside of your core race because "I (they) am the authority".

I know better now, but it always bothered me. Children are to be seen and not heard, especially concerning things like this./sarc

Exactly. God forbid Abraham seed (Israel) from intermingling with the pagans and marrying into other religions that would lead them astray....ie see King Solomon and his multiple wives. Theres nothing in there about racial exclusion. There’s plenty of examples in the Old Testament of other racial and ethnic people in the fold of ancient Israel history including the lineage of Jesus

Another old story BUT it reminds us that like Fox which ran this well after it was a dead and buried nothing burger that saw the wedding venue change its position, the Washington Examiner is NOT YOUR FRIEND EITHER.

What is bothering me about this post is the number of comments about the ladies stupidity, etc. However, she went and studied the Bible, asked for counsel, and responded positively to the counsel, recognized her sin, recognized her need to correct it, and biblically corrected the sin by formally apologizing to the person.

Seems to me she was a smart and devout Christian, who did the right thing.

"This woman is insane", "this idiotic woman".

Yes it bothers me too. She is tried and judged to be guilty of being TAUGHT to believe something that was not in the bible and attributing it to it.

People should be standing up for her considering that she immediately admitted wrong, apologized and offered to make it right.

I guarantee there a soooo many more that have been taught the same thing.

I cannot say she WAS (past tense) a Christian if she believed that interracial marriage was a sin.

What about her (former) belief is a disqualifier for being a Christian?

Everything she did and said afterwards points DIRECTLY at her being a Christian.

I’m not judging her BUT she should have searched the scriptures herself on these held beliefs. Seems like she was brought up that way and never looked into the scriptures. If someone told me something like that I’m searching for where it said it or infers it at least

I have been a Christian since 1977 and still find things that surprise me from the Scriptures. We are taught a lot of things as children which do not usually come under greater scrutiny until we have them shoved in our face.

However, that does not mean or imply that we were not Christians. She did go to the scripture, she did go to her pastor, and she did humble herself to make it right.

I attest that is far greater than many who already “knew” the truth and look down on her for being wrong. It smacks faintly of the parable of the Pharisee and the sinner praying in the temple.

‘I’m not judging her BUT she should have searched the scriptures...’

It appears that she has searched the statutes.

It has nothing to do with law. Her husband challenged her on the location of a supporting scripture. Let’s stone her now! /s

I agree with your assessment & post.
Hope you didn’t think my post came across like I accused her of being dumb or stupid.
