If sin defiles us, there must be some way of being undefiled so that we can go to Heaven. What happens if we die before we are purged of our sins, or the effects of sin in this life? We go to Purgatory. On Judgment Day, after our sins are shouted from the mountains, Jesus Christ will cover or vouch for the effects of our sins, due to our true belief in Him and our hearts being truly with Him. We are, at that time, made Holy in Gods Eyes and can be in Heaven.
There is no Purgatory and nothing in the above article references such a thing. After all, it even takes this imbecile dipping into non-Canon documents and reliance upon Tradition to eek out just a bit more to try to push his assertion over the line. Sadly, he cant do it, and, sadly, we have FReepers who are so stupid they cant see this and cant debate their way out of the simplest of corners. Right, ebb tide?

Nah, poorly written, downright abuse of Scripture.
“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
Apostle Paul

The doctrine of Purgatory, central to Christianity CATHOLICISM.... Fixed it.

I did. It’s not there. It’s convoluted Catholic illogic. Purgatory come from Ancient Greece. Plato first mentioned it. It doesn’t exist. God in black and white. Right or wrong, good or bad. There are not grey areas with God. If there was, no need for Jesus to forgive your sins. You could be just a “partial” sinner and go to Purgsville and get out on probation depending on the sins. Jesus died for mankinds sins so they could make it to Heaven. All his teaching mentions one or the other. This is Catholic BS.

But here we have a problem. If weve died in the state of grace (righteousness, justice, friendship with God), we may still be defiled by sin...No maybe about it. In Isaiah we are told our righteousness is like filthy rags, and in the gospels Jesus says only God is good.

Are you saying that because Im not a Catholic that I am not a Christian? Are you saying that Roman Catholics are the only Christians?
You know better. Catholicism and Christianity are not one and the same.

WHY do Roman Catholics refuse to accept the plain, simple fact that salvation is by grace through faith, not of works, lest anyone boast? It is not dependent in any way, shape, or form upon man’s effort. I’ll admit that if I believed in a Roman view of the inadequacy of Jesus Christ to save, then I guess I’d have to logically work Purgatory into my soteriology.
