The Sentinel, 18 January 1934 — DISPLEASES BERLIN ARYANS SWASTIKA ON ARAB ORANGES
Berlin (JTA)—Official circles here are protesting against the use of the swastika, official Nazi emblem, printed on the wrappers of Palestine oranges intended for export to Germany...
Oranges marked "Saint Elijah, Jaffa," were wrapped in paper bearing a picture of the "prophet" surrounded by swastikas.
The wrappers were found to have been used by an Arab exporting firm.
The swastika is thousands of years old and numerous cultures including ours used to use it as a symbol of blessing and good fortune. It is irrational to hate the swastika just because someone misused it.
It’s also kind of funny how so many modern companies use the swastika in their logos and most people don’t even notice.
Columbia sportswear for instance.
I never guessed that Collin O’Brian was an importer exporter.
45th (US) Infantry Division (OK National Guard) used the Swastika until just before WW2 when they switched to the “Thunderbird”.

Of course you're right. 1924 article, 1940 But in 1934 it meant Nazism and race hatred. Which is why that Muslim Arab exporter used it -with his prophet and profit-- in wrapping his oranges when exporting to Germany.
I don’t remember which city it was, but the base of the lampposts there, which were very old, had a swastica motif going all around it.
