Re 65123

Notice Jesus did not say blood. Eternal life will not be dependent on a beating heart

Whaaa? He didn't say "saliva" either or "teeth" or "vitreous humor." Shall we therefore assume that we'll have no intra-ocular pressure?

On the day they got "saved" both Mike and Mark would have felt the same

How do you know that? besides, it has nothing to do with feeling.

But it calls into question our capacity to truly know what our status is,

I don't think so. And you yourself agreed with this a while back. You know when you are sincere. God could not have said 1 John 5:13.

My argument was about the nature of Christ before and after his incarnation. He can not have been made out of created material BEFORE his incarnation for the simple fact that he existed before there was created matter.

Let me start over. You said the the resurrected Christ could not have a body made of matter, since then he would not be God. Correct?

What kind of body did Christ have after he was born and before he died?

I would say that he had a regular human body, made of created matter.

Yet, He was God. Which means that God can indeed have a body made of matter and remain God. Which invalidates your argument.

What am I missing? Why do the rules change for a resurrected body?

nd for the fact that necessitates a radically non-egalitarian afterlife.

Doesn't the Catholic church teach that there are differences in heavenly rewards?

To allow a slacker and willful sinner into heaven is to require that he be on a "low rung" in heaven, while those who led holy lives are, what? Better treated, given nicer homes, served food rather than being the servants?

Every cup shall be filled. The difference is, how large of a cup do you have? A "greater" saint will have developed a greater capacity to be filled with God than a "lesser" saint.

Re 65181

This is generally thought to mean that we will not be able to sin (incorruptible) as opposed to the physical substance

So you might be walking down the road in Heaven and your foot will fall off? Arthritis? False teeth? Cancer?

Won't they be gone?

Maybe it's because you don't set yourself up with big showy productions about your any changes in your beliefs, and then ridicule when people respond accordingly.

I think someone needs to dig up a graphic from Mel Brooks' The History of the World. Ya know, when they reached "The End."

You got it ...

I don't really know. Probably. How do you see things? I just picture a state of complete bliss, baskng in the glory of God.

Every cup shall be filled. The difference is, how large of a cup do you have? A "greater" saint will have developed a greater capacity to be filled with God than a "lesser" saint.

I'm not sure how that works. Maybe some people are more responsive to bliss, or their bliss would be objectively "better." Maybe one's bliss is beer and steak while another's is lobster and wine?

Recently, this thread has dealt with those who won’t accept Jesus Christ as the begotten Son of God, those who condemn you for not going back under the law, and most here have been patient and understanding with them, but Doug differs in a small mater, the make up of Christ body after His resurrection, and everyone goes ballistic.

I haven't condemned anyone. I don't recall seeing any posts where malakhi has condemned anyone. I don't recall seeing 1 spark condemn anyone. I don't even remember any post from Invincibly Ignorant that condemned anyone.

HOWEVER, I do recall OTHERS condemning people.......

Isn't the point of Protestant Christianity that it is only our internal faith that saves us and not our practices and actions? Then someone who aped anothers actions but knew nothing of faith would still go to hell.

You know less about "Protestant Christianity" than the average "Catholic" knows about "Catholicism".

Just like God provide the Eucharist to accomodate our linear time

That may be. But the one sacrifice occurred 2000 years ago, right? If atonement can be 2000 years in the past -- and then made present, why can't forgiveness be 10 years in the past -- and then made present?

This all for one, one time forgiveness doesn't fit the human pattern, as far as I can tell.

You could say the same for Jesus's "once for all time" atoning sacrifice. Still, the church teaches that the re-presentation of this sacrifice in the eucharist is not a "sacrificing again", but instead is a "making present" of the "once for all time" sacrifice.

Knowing that I was "already forgiven" I might be tempted to go ahead and sin.

So could knowing that your sins are already atoned for.

Whereas knowing that I would need to repent again, might change my mind.

In either scenario, you would need to repent (return to the right path) again.

Why not a feeling a witness from the Holy Ghost or to feel the presents of the Lord in your life?

When the Lord is not as close to you, do you not know it?

What was it about?

Something about reading John's gospel as figurative rather than literal truth.

Why not a feeling a witness from the Holy Ghost or to feel the presents of the Lord in your life?

Because feelings can deceive you. Your assureance of salvation comes from knowing what God says in His word and trusting it.

I know when I am not as close to God as I could/should be, and I do feel bad, but I KNOW I am not close because of what God says not because of what I feel.

Think about that story Footsteps in the Sand. It is kind of right on track. The person did not feel close when he was going thru the bad times, but in reality that was when God was closest. I believe there is a good point to that. When we "feel" alone, we should trust that God will be there for us.
