Viva Teresa
TERESA HERNANDEZ FOR CONGRESS ^ | JWThinkwright

Posted on 04/23/2009 3:48:46 PM PDT by El Gringo

Viva Teresa She will be good for her own district in So. Cal, but she will bring great perspective in honesty, practical reality, and tax restraint. to Washington DC. She is: a mother, a successful business woman, and a very decent, moral, civil and intelligent human being. She has signed a No New Tax Pledge. Her pro-life, pro-family stances have been clearly, unequivocally stated. She was a key speaker at the April 15 Pasadena, CA Tea Party. She is a standard bearer of the Ronald Reagan tradition.

Teresa Hernandez is running for Congress(District 32, vacated by Hilda Solis) to bring some fresh thinking to the problems facing our country. These are incredibly challenging and difficult days that we as a nation are facing. It is especially important that those who represent us in the United States Congress are committed to a sense of balance and a voice of reason. Government has a vital role to play as we work to get our country back on the right track. 1. Congress must be fiscally responsible. Congress does not need another career politician. It’s time to send a successful businesswoman, with a proven track record, to talk some sense into our Federal Government. The residents of the 32nd District deserve nothing less! As Teresa puts it, “I must try to effect change, as Ronald Reagan once said”If not us, who? If not now, when?ʺ That time is now!

...couldn't she have memorized something just a bit more modern. It sounds like another political speech from 30 years ago. I would say if you put that few sentences in a search you would find 63 speeches by 63 different candidates over the years

She seems very ... pro-Mexico.

Teresa and Jose opened Cielito Lindo Restaurant in South El Monte in 1986. It has become a local landmark and popular family restaurant. A few years later they formed Hernandez Productions to launch Mariachi Sol de Mexico and Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles to produce family_with_band_webMariachi Festivals and shows across the United States. In 1991, Teresa and her husband started the Mariachi Heritage Society to provide in‐school and after school music classes for local children who could not otherwise afford instruments or lessons. Over 7,000 children have attended this program from schools in Azusa, South El Monte, Norwalk and Pico Rivera.

I wonder what her stance might be on illegal immigration.

We need serious, fresh thinking outside the box. Major sacrifices will have to be .... I hope some element of commonsense will prevail. ... I am convinced our country will get through the difficulties...

Per her website, she favors Juan McCain style shamnesty.

Seal the borders.

Make legal immigration easier.

Deport all illegals who are criminals (aren’t they all?)

“Pathway to citizenship” for all illegals after paying a fine.

RINO!

Ya never know. Our friend whose maiden name was Rodriguez (Smith in Mexican) often would rail about "those damn Mexicans", when speaking of illegals. And she is only second generation, meaning her grandparents *were* Mexicans. :). Her husband OTOH, has family roots in Texas that go back to the 1600s.

Ya never know.

True.

But this fledgling needs a better platform prior to gaining my support.

And as we all know, my support is the key to all. ;-)

Thanks for your comment. I would say: Pro human race. And, pro business. She and her husband have several businesses, among them, a Mariachi production company. She is a staunch opponent of amnesty and anything that resembles an ‘anything goes’ border. Her outreach to Latinos is the kind that stresses morals and responsibility, good future citizens. Not the kind of outreach sought by McCain,Kennedy, and the usual band of demagogues, who only seek to stuff ballot boxes.

Interesting comment. Is it pro or con?

She does indeed. I didn't think she sound so much "Pro Mexico" as being too much in the mushy middle.
