The more I read about this guy, the more I lean toward supporting him for President in 2012. I like Palin too, but I don’t think she has a chance with the swing voters. I’d vote for either in the general election though.

I remember this guy. He’s an outspoken advocate of legalized marijuana, which means the expansive commerce clause, big government loving antidruggers will never accept him.

Yeah. I love so-called conservatives that will use BIG GOVERNMENT to support their causes, but cry out loud when liberals use the same BIG GOVERNMENT for their causes. BIG GOVERNMMENT is all good for NOBODY.

2 out of the 3 pegs on the conservative stool are big gubmint. The defense hawks are big government on foreign policy (neocons.) The culture war conservatives are big gubmint on social issues (socons.) The only plank that presumably doesn’t have a big gubmint component is fiscal conservatives, and a quick glance at history, recent or not, demonstrates that that is the plank that gets the least attention. No surprise.

How about loading up with pork any thing he knows will
pass and then saying “I voted against it, giggle, giggle".

That tells me he is phony!

No kidding: the pro-Drug War "conservatives" are no more conservative than Rev. Jeremiah Wright is a preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

And, how can you be a fiscal conservative while being big government on two thirds of your platform? Something has to finance that giant war machine and conservative regulations. George W. Bush really taught me a lesson about the whole Dems verses Pubs fight; they're all big government turds with different morals. I find myself as an RLC repbulican with Jeffersonian-libertarian roots (republican with a small r; libertarian with a small l).

Not hardly. The 10th Amendment leaves criminal-fighting powers to the states, not to the feds. The fedgov is limited in its powers, as any true conservative will tell you. If you read Paper #45 of The Federalist Papers, you will find that out quite easily.

You can call it whatever you like, but being pro-drugs is not a Conservative position, it’s an anarchic one. Toodles.

Who said I am "pro-drug"? What I am saying is that, w/ the exception of protecting our own borders, the Constitution leaves the powers of fighting the Drug War to the states. The feds have the power to regulate interstate commerce, but not prohibit. The states should be as free to pursue their own Drug Wars as strongly as they & their people so desire.
