Spiderboy recently told Msdrby he knows Santa is real. Last right Santa left beef jerky in dad's stocking, and since dad loves jerky and Santa knew that, he must be real.

Awfully cold here in Southern Georgia, too. Bird bath and pond froze over. The South will rise to 60 degrees today though. ;-)

Nasty amphibious landing, we received a sampling of what the Japanese would deliver throughout the rest of the war - dug in to their eyeballs. Tarawa was a logistic learning curve in amphibious operations.

Critics in the past have brought out points about whether the bombardment was long enough, or if the air to ground phase was sufficient to do the job.

In the end, as we see now in Iraq - a far call from an amphibious landing, the ground pounder was the ultimate weapon. American fortitude and discipline won the day. The price was expensive as is the wages of war in all times.

My grandfather's served in wartime, my mother's father was a B-24 Liberator pilot during the first raid on Ploesti. No comparison, but in the end a major "lessons learned" file was compiled in both cases.

The american has more tenacity, and more discipline than other fighting forces, because we have so much to lose. The price of freedom is exponentially more expensive than the price of socialism.

Good post, great art work.

Thanx.

SS

True. You can apply these same sentences to D-Day at Omaha Beach. It was the first comparison I thought of. It's the boots on the ground that take on the heavy task. I am currently reading Omaha Beach by Joseph Balkoski. Lots of good detail in this book.

We covered the Ploesti Raid if I'm not mistaken. I'll have to go through the Foxhole threads to see if I can find it. We are grateful for your grandfather's service. Cool planes those B-24's and B-17's.

Santa just acquired one these SoftAir Sig P226 for BlackBeltboy. It can hit a quarter at 25ft using a 6mm round pellet.

Seems Santa had an extra Bersa .380 lying around this year too. :-) I am just on my way out to the range to try it out. :-)

My brother's (not a)girlfriend got him a puppy. It's the cutest little thing. It's part German Shepherd and part Rottweiler. It has come down with parvo. I think it probably had parvo when he got it.

We met the puppy on Saturday, and I told mom that puppy had parvo then. My brother was in denial and took the puppy with him deerhunting in Brady. Sunday evening, he took the puppy to the animal emergency room, and at midnight called my mom to tell her what she already knew. I have been there and done that with my son's puppy four years ago. I do not hold out much hope for the puppy. My brother adores the puppy.

So sad about that puppy. :-( I got one like that about 15 years ago and have shied away from puppies from people I don't know since then.

I still think Schlohweiss oughtta meet your brother. Can't convince her of that though. ~sigh~

Say, do ya'll have a spot where ya'll go shoot up there at a range or something? Maybe we could moot up for that some of these days. After CHRISTmas of course.
