I saw an on line ad for this organization and wondered if it is legit or a political front to not really 'help' our service men and women.

Any of Y'All know if they are legit or not? Is this a group that FReepers should know about?

Go to the site and check it out.
I did and seems to be some Major League Baseball affiliated Charity. If there is an agenda other then doing something nice for returning vets I did not see it on the website.

There are dozens of well established groups that honor, assist, help, etc our Veterans.
The best way to determine legitamacy is by their actions not by their words, press releases or website.

I did the same. Thx.

Do you or other FReeprs have knowledge of well-established help-our-GIs kinda sites?

I guess I am looking for referrals from FReepers who know from experience, perhaps with family and friends, which .orgs are the ‘good’ ones.

It depends on what type of help you are looking for. My husband is a Vietnam veteran and once belonged to a couple good organizations. VietNow and Amvets.

Of course there are thousands of helpful sites at VA.gov

And depending on where you live, drop by a VFW or Am.Legion location. Finally, again depending on locale, look for 'reunions'. For instance here in Central Florida we've got the annual Vietnam and all Vets reunion. A half million show up nowadays.

As to Blogs and Veterans Groups, Michelle Malkin has a great list here.

Clark Howard (radio talk show financial expert) posts a "A guide to the best and worst military charities" on his website. Here's the link

If the link fails here's the web address:
