Saw plenty of instances growing up in the military, and then being in there myself, of spouses with the attitude of, What rank are WE again honey?
Boys and girls in the army together. What could go wrong?
Yes, but the Korean mountains are so pretty!
YES!!!
While this may be a real case of adults bullying adults, the way our society gives official victims attention and power leads to a LOT of fake cases.

I can identify with your remark. My service time was decades ago. I recall living in post housing where our little complex was supervised by a resident E7. This guy was quite nice to be around. However his old lady was the arrogant one. The rest of us were E6 and below, and she often made it a point her husband out ranked us in an effort to show she outranked our wives.
I found this odd, as higher ranking enlisted women were not arrogant, but the spouses were????
That’s really just the one, sad and pathetic a$$hole who everyone hates here, and should’ve been ZOT’ted a long time ago.
Sounds like a really bad person.
Reminds me of a story I was once told, not sure if it's true.
The new Base Commander was to speak at a meeting of the Officers Wives Club. He stood at the podium, and asked the audience to arrange themselves by rank. It took a while, but they were finally seated, front to back, from Colonel to 2nd Lieutenant.
Once all were settled in he told them "Ladies, officer's wives do not have any rank. Thank you, have a nice day."
