It also allows illegal aliens to avoid the State Department background checks" Very disturbing. Shouldn't this be some kind of national security issue? How many times have we been told to expect terrorism on American soil? What's to stop a foreign power bent on wreaking havoc in the US, from enlisting some of these immigrants to help.

Whats stopping these foreign powers or terrorists from enlisting illegals now without any amnesty? Duh?

Conservatives want and expect a well-regulated immigration and reasonable and rational immigration policies.

Libertarians advocate unregulated open borders and amnesty for all.

You need to review your political definitions instead of calling people names in error.

Wow, Race, I thought you were actually an intelligent individual worthy of some respect- I was clearly mistaken.

Did you happen to read, right in front of your face, where it says that all 245(i) does is extend the current system until April 2002 (that's another 6 months, Genius).

Be a man, pull your head out of your arse, and stop kneejerking and trying to scare people (and piss them off).

Oh yeah, and you really should SHUT UP.

Don't do us any favors. Did you even bother to read the article, or did you stop at the headlines?

So because it does not come into effect until April 2002 it is OK?

I kindly disagree. Don't you dare tell me to shut up, why don't you shut folks up by posting facts of reasonable debate and start adhering to the rules of this forum, mind your manners and stop attacking; until then there is no need to reply to you.

I must have missed the part about making them US Citizens. Could you point that part out to me?

20 Posted on 09/10/2001 10:12:09 PDT by Phantom Lord

What I *could* do, is provide articles from 1996, which told of the push for Hispanics quickly made citizens; in order to process these folks, Algore authorized as much overtime and add'l personnel needed by the INS to accomplish these tasks. Perhaps you've heard of Las Hermanos ???? (can't tremember the rest of it) who worked hand-in-hand with the Dems to insure Clinton was elected.

OTOH, if you're interested, you may do a search. The Dems have many vote-fraud tricks up their sleeves, and this is one. If Bush believes these new citizens will vote Republican, you can bet McAuliffe and the DNC are there to insure they don't.

Democrats support easier immigration

     ASSOCIATED PRESS

Following months of increasing interest in immigration and a three-day state visit by Mexican President Vicente Fox, Democrats asked yesterday that Americans set aside their fears of change and loosen regulations on immigration.

Rep. Ed Pastor of Arizona used the Democrats' weekly radio address to emphasize the party's support of a revamped immigration policy in response to the nation's changing needs.

"Attracting ambitious workers from all over the globe is a sign of our national strength, not a weakness," he said.

The focus of the issue should be redirected "to take advantage of, rather than fear, the economic and cultural evolution of our nation," said Mr. Pastor.

On Friday, business leaders told a Senate Judiciary subcommittee that the nation's economy will have an estimated 161 million jobs by 2008 and only 154 million Americans available to fill them.

Labor leaders also suggested that forcing immigrants to accept substandard pay and working conditions will in time only create the same situation for American workers.

Parts of the issue have crossed party lines. A bill passed by the Senate on Thursday night extending the deadline for illegal immigrants to apply for visas -- also has the support of President Bush and Republican lawmakers in the House.

But Mr. Pastor said his party's goal includes much more, such as expanding limits on some immigrant visas and exempting Canada and Mexico from limits entirely.

"There are millions of resident undocumented immigrants in this country " he said. "This is their home, and they are not going anywhere."

I’ll be curious to see if the Hispanic votes he gains compensates for the conservative votes he loses in the next election.

Loses to whom? Hillary? We're a bit short on alternatives.

Nobody was talking to you, so SHUT UP. Mind your manners and stop butting into other's conversations.

Now as for your April 2002 comment- did you even READ the article?

All this article says, my sensitive friend, is that the current law that is in effect is going to be EXTENDED until April 2002- and if you know anything about the situation at the INS centers down there, you would know their is a 10 year log jam that makes it impossible for folks who are in this country legally under a work visa to extend their visa's due to the log jam, thereby resulting in "illegal aliens."

Maybe you should read the article before you accuse me of not posting facts, Sunshine. Now go dry your crying eyes...

Just remember that when there is no lettuce in your supermarket since it rots in fields with no pickers to pick it....

Well, let's see. The current estimate of 14 million Mexicans with approx. 3 million being illegal, there should be enough farm labor to last for the nexr 50 years yet they still continue swarming across our southern borders like locusts.

Would you still maintain your benevolent stance if 14 million ChiComs came swarming across our borders?
