Saddam's Bombmaker on Anthrax Attacks: 'This Is Iraq!'
Newsmax ^ | 10/23/01 | Carl Limbacher

A top Iraqi military scientist who defected to the U.S. in 1994 said late Monday that he's absolutely certain his former boss Saddam Hussein is behind the wave of anthrax attacks that have swept the U.S. in recent weeks.

"This is Iraq," said Dr. Khidhir Hamza, in an interview on CNBC's "Rivera Live." "This is Iraq's work."

Dr. Hamza headed up Hussein's nuclear weapons research program in the early 1990's and has authored the book, "Saddam's Bombmaker: The Terrifying Inside Story of the Iraqi Nuclear and Biological Weapons Agenda."

"Nobody (else) has the expertise outside the U.S. and outside the major powers who work on germ warfare," Hamza told "Rivera Live." "Nobody has the expertise and has any motive to attack the U.S. except Saddam to do this. This is Iraq. This is Saddam."

The Iraqi weapons expert told CNBC that his homeland had developed the capability to weaponize anthrax even before he defected to the U.S. 7 years ago and continues to maintain that capability.

"I have absolutely no doubt," he said. "Iraq worked actually even before the Gulf War on perfecting the process of getting anthrax in the particle size needed in powder form to disseminate the way it is being disseminated now."

After linking the Iraqi dicator to the U.S. anthrax attacks, the man familiar with Saddam's secret doomsday strategy said he thinks the anthrax contamination of America's postal system is just the opening salvo in Saddam's bioterror war on the U.S.

"Probaby this is the first wave," Dr. Hamza told Rivera. "I'm not trying to frighten everybody in this but probably this is the first wave."

FYI to all: This is what's known as weaponization. There have been a lot of accusations and Chicken Little hysteria over various government officials saying the anthrax attacks are or are not weaponized. There is no conspiracy here; just differing opinions (presumably to be settled with more tests) or misunderstanding with terminology. This apparently credible NBC expert certainly considers it weaponized. But whether it's weaponized or not does not diminish the seriousness of the situation. It may, however, help us pinpoint the culprit(s).

This man has everything to gain from claiming it was Iraq.

He defected and He has a book out about their weapons program that would sell like hotcakes.

Questionable Source.

Cuba has the means.

We should bomb Iraq to hell. We should capture this bi--h and anyone else involved in making bio and chemical weapons for Iraq and force them to ingest some of their own creations...

"This apparently credible NBC expert certainly considers it weaponized. But whether it's weaponized or not does not diminish the seriousness of the situation."

The fact that we have one confirmed case and two more almost-certain cases of pulmonary anthrax at the post office that handled the letters is sufficient evidence that this anthrax was potent and readily aerosolized. That doesn't happen by accident: It is the result of difficult and sophisticated engineering, a deliberate attempt to turn the spores into a weapon. The government's insistence that this anthrax is not "weaponized" is semantic sleight of hand, based on the fact that it wasn't also engineered to be resistant to antibiotics.

Why are these Iraqi terrorists --who have attacked the US directly and indirectly many times--

allowed to live on borrowed time?

Dr. Germ and her Iraqi masters are evil and have hit us over and over.

Are we waiting for them to bring in Q-Ebola-Smallpox by Diplomatic pouch first?

"Probaby this is the first wave," Dr. Hamza told Rivera. "I'm not trying to frighten everybody in this but probably this is the first wave."

What is the advantage to terrorists to operate in "waves"?

Why not unleash all Hell, all at once -- WTC destruction, "dirty bombs," anthrax, smallpox, whatever they've got?

Many crises on many fronts would be more likely to overwhelm authorities and cause chaos than this "wave" deal.

You don't have a clue as to what the government's motivation was. Semantics? Sure. But all this conspiracy hysteria would be laughable if it weren't so darn serious.

Let's put it this way. If this Administration is trying to keep information from us, it's not doing a very good job.

I can't resist calling him "Dr. Hazmat".

I'm guessing that if this is true, the reason the gov't has been so tight lipped is because they are planning on what to do about Saddam... either way, he's gotta go.

Wake up America. You are nothing but expendable cannon fodder being openly exposed and disgarded. If this were not true there would be no ME visitors here on visas and we would certainly not be allowing them to presently flow in unrestricted. There is no WAR on terrorism. There is a limited police action designed to keep you from rioting and attacking your elected controllers.
