I was shouting along and waiving my Stars and Stripes high above my head. Muchachón. Hold the flag in your right hand. Never on your left.
His voice snapped me out of my trance, the old man was smiling, and looking at me, he spoke again.
I hope you dont mind me advice, but you should hold it in your right hand. I dont think many of us here like the left very much.
I smiled and changed my flag to the right.
From now on, I shall always hold the flag in my right hand! (I am left handed):-)

Great job, as usual, Luis! Pinging the better half to the thread...
We enjoyed meeting you last month, Luis!

Cuban American bump.
There is something very special about growing up as a Cuban American. It was the same as growing up as a 1940's American.
Unfortunately, too many kids have grown up as Berkley Americans. They've missed out on quite a lot.

Oh, Louis! Here come the tears again.
Thank you.
Would to God every American could read this story.
I am sorry - I did not know about the God Bless America march on the Freedom Road, best known as Calle Ocho - until reading your beautiful retelling of that event.
150,000 !!!!!
One hundred and fifty thousand gathered to honor America!
ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND!!!!
And not one word in major media whoredom - at least not one word I heard or read (though I don't frequent their houses of propaganda any more - sticking mostly to FR and FOX.) But even with these "alternative news sources" - I missed this!
If all Americans had the love of country manifested by the Cuban Americans and others gathered in this rally - we would surely be able to find the moral courage and strength to clean Castro and his commie friends OUT of both the USA and Cuba!
Thank you again!
To: Luis Gonzalez
I didn't know about this march, either. Thank you for this beautifully written account, and thanks to all of you who fought so hard in the Battle of Florida, which although we didn't know it, was the opening of the War on Terror.
Gracias, amigo!
To: Luis Gonzalez
150,000?!
I'm happy when we get 300 gun rights supporters to a rally.
To: Luis Gonzalez
Beautiful piece, Luis!
If the unappreciative American sheeple could get off their whining and complaining perch, they could learn real patriotism from the Cuban exile community.
They are freedom loving patriots who love America and liberty more than life itsself.
Viva Cuba Libre!
I am your 'hermano' my friend.

I see that you are surprised at an old man, an old man that knows these things. with a sweeping motion he pointed to everything around usWhen you walk back, down this street, hold high your head, because you walk on sacred ground. When you walk on this street, you are walking down Freedom road. Be well my young friend. Wonderfully written, Luis. Thank you so much! Glad to see you back from Paradise. :-)

Thanks for the flag, Mud.

This is the reason I read posts on FR. Not for the bickering and relatively small portion of posters who GO A BIT TOO FAR, BUT FOR THE BEAUTY OF THE POSTS LIKE THIS
