Something to Fight For (My trip to see my 1st Grandson)
Liberty or Death ^ | November 14, 2001 | Jeff Head

Here's one thing we fight for, and
Defend against ALL enemies, Foreign and Domestic

By: Jeff Head November 14, 2001

As many of you know, I took a trip with my youngest son, Jared, late last week from Idaho to Indiana and back. It was a "flying" trip in the which we left Thursday in the late afternoon, drove 1850 miles in 32 hours along I-80, arriving in Indiana at about 2:30 AM on Saturday morning. We visited my daughter, her husband and our first grandchild/nephew on Saturday and Sunday, helping to bless and name Breadon (a ceremony/ordinance in our faith), and then left Sunday in the late morning. We then drove 2100 miles back to Idaho. On the return trip we took the northern route using I-90 out of Chicago and visited my second oldest daughter in Bozeman where she works and goes to school.

On the way out, we saw FReepers John R. (Bob) Locke and Eustace (Rick) and his wife. We visited Bob in Cheyenne, WY over breakfast on Friday morning and then Rick over dinner in Iowa that same evening.

Jeff Head and John R. (Bob) Locke in Wyoming

Unfortunately we did not get a picture of Roick and his wonderful wife ... but we sure did chow down at a great Buffet and have a great, constitutional and patriotic discussion.

Then, upon arriving in Indiana, we were able to spend some GREAT time with my oldest daughter and that beautiful, beaming and innocent as fresh snow garndson. Here are some pictures of that visit.

His Dad feeds Braedon, A brand new family, A new Uncle (Jared) gets to hold his nephew

A nice home for a nice family, Braedon goes aloft, Braedon says hi while being held by Mom

Jared holding Braedon again, Grandad (me) holding the little critter, Braedon likes to play footsies.

My wife had spent 10 days there earlier helping the new Mom figure things out while she figured out what being a new Grandmom was all about. She liked it so much that I had to make the trip to see what Grandad was all about. Gotta tell you ... it's just another true indication of what life is all about ... after coming to know God, finding the right woman and having and raising good kids of our own in liberty.

Then we were off on the trip back. Here's a few pictures from that trip.

Great to see the Mountains again, Devil's Tower Plaque, Devils Tower, Wyoming

Now, let me say a thing or two about our nation.

I will defend with my life the liberty of my children and grandchildren. Nobody, foreign or domestic, will take away their liberty to live life free, to have the absolute minimum intrusion (as intended by the foundres) and to defend their own liberty as long as I draw breath.

The list of "nobodies" includes terrorists, foreign powers and any unscrupulous oath breakers amongst our own governmental officials, or any groups within the borders of this nation who would seek to do so.

I support our government's constitutional efforts to wage war against the enemies who attacked our nation. As I read it, the recent Executive Order calling for military tribunals for any foreign individual (and the order was very specific about it applying to foreign persons) particpating in terror attacks against our nation is fine and a needed provision for war time. I do not see it as a threat to the citizenry. However, the so called "Patriot Act" which takes freedom from all of us is not. The government has the tools it needs with respect to immigration, border control, visa control of foreigners and police powers for criminals to address these issues without curtailing the liberty of law abiding citizens.

The American people and patriots are aroused to defend their liberty, the government needs to make sure all of its actions are clearly pointed at doing that and not curtailing it. At the best, we help our enemies when we curtail the general liberty because that is the ultimate goal of those enemeies ... to destroy the liberty that hundreds of thousands have died defending, and therby destroy our nation. At the worst, such activities and curtailments are the acts of domestic enemies bent on ending American liberty and life as we no it. I will fight any such enemies to my last breath so that the coming generation, young ones like Braedon, may enjoy the liberty I have enjoyed, that my father enjoyed and that our bloodliines have enjoyed back to the American Revolution.

In conclusion, for anyone interested, our trip was great. That little critter, Braedon, is a joy and a God send ... and Jared an I are once agains back home with our own in our adopted and beloved Idaho.

I'm glad it went well. Braedon is a handsome child. I know he will grow up surrounded with Love and support.

I feel as You do. Our Children ARE our future, without them there is no future. And I will do all I can to insure my daughter has a future with Freedom, promise and choices.

Peace

Jeff,

I've been remiss. I have reviewed the sample, the site and just need to scrape up the bucks to get it done. I need a good read and get off this site once in a while. I miss my reading time now spent Freepin.

It's an impressive read. I want to make sure you wear your boots and hat to the interviews and radio shows on the book tour. I can see you chewing radio heads like Peter Boyles of Denver and spitting him out like Skoal juice.

You are a talanted man. The Lord has blessed you in more ways than just family.

Regards,

TS

"...visited my second oldest daughter in Bozeman where she works and goes to school."

A good buddy of mine from UVA married a Bozeman girl and I was able to enjoy a glorious August week in Bozeman, MT just over four years back...never any doubt as to why they call it "BigSky Country." I remember just watching an afternoon storm rolling in between the mountains and enjoying Nature's fireworks from my Hotel Room window. My wife and I have seriously considered retiring out there some day, although I hear the Winters can be rather brutal.

Aren't Cross-Country car trips through this wonderful nation the absolute best?!!

BTW...good-lookin' group of kids and grandkids, my FRiend.

I loved the winters in Montana and here in Idaho (though here they are somewhat less intense).

We came to appreciate an old saying there in Dillon, MT where we lived for several years. "When Winter's come, the undesirables go away." I would always Elk and Deer hunt late because right around the 1st week of November you would be inundated with Californians, Utahans, and all variety of "'ans". But, as soon as the snow flew (almost always sometime right around there) and the temperture plummeted, the backcountry went back to its uninhabited self.

Similar conditions apply here in Idaho as well and so we're real happy. Been here in Emmett over 4 years now and have probably sunk the proverbial tap root.

Best regards. Mat's out.

I hope you get a chance to get one. I believe you will enjoy the whole thing ... the whole enchilada so to speak.

I look forward to hearing your comments.

I am saving all of the comments, reviews, suggestions to apply to volume two which I am itching to get into. I have all five volumes fairly well detailed and if a bigger company would just pick it up and fund the thing, I'd be writing for the next two years to finish the other four. I could do it now, but must focus on getting it up and running and making denero because we have taken the "leap" of faith so to speak and are betting the barn on it.

To date, though it has started to sell and is bringing in some dollars, it's still in the red overall. We hope that changes soon. This first printing (which, since it was funded with our own savings) is almost completely sold out. We will start to actally make money on the second order of books, of course presuming they sell too.

Stay well my friend and God's blessings to you and yours.

No problem, you are welcome. Glad to do it.

The more strong familiy ties and fathers and mothers raising good sons and daughters we have in this country, the better. It is what keeps us strong and gives our liberty meaning IMHO.

FRegards.

Awesome. Thanks. I've traversed the continent by car twice in two months and am preparing for the third trip in a few weeks....to see my children and my grandson (I was a VERY young mother and VERY young grandma :~) )

Would love to post a few photos of this awesome country's citizens, have a few great shots of ranchers in Montana, loggers in Washington, farmers in Iowa, bikers in Sturgis (a story in itself---Sheesh I never even heard of Sturgis until I just happened to be passing through during the annual bike rally---thought I had entered the Twilight Zone!)

I have an Olympus digital...but need to learn how to bring them online. Digital photography I know, internet skills I do not!!!!!

LOL,LGE
