FReeper names explained
My curiousity | Now | Yours truly

Posted on 01/18/2002 5:03:35 PM PST by Come get it

Some FReepers have nicks that are obvious in their origin, others don't. I've seen several that probably have interesting stories behind them.

I thought it would be cool to see where FReepers get their handles from. If you don't like this topic, DON'T POST HERE! No one forces you to read this. I'm sure other people may be interested. If I'm the only one, let me know so I can crawl away in shame.

Benjamin means "favored son" or "son of my right hand".

I took the name of their classic album Rainbow Rising for my screen name because I wanted something that sounded strong and positive

*WHEW*

That's good to know. Me being a homophobe and everything

When Princess Di crashed, I got a ton of hate mail.

From what I've seen, half of them would applaud such a name

If you don't like this website, why are you sticking around? Just curious, really.

Who said I didn't like the site? Just because I dare to criticise some of the posters doesn't mean I do not enjoy it.

The British people here are very nice, as are the Kiwis, Aussies and other Commonwealthers. We have been lobbying for some time to have a Commonwealth forum here. The Americans who do not flame Brits, describe them as 'Euro Trash', attack our superior gun laws etc, would also be welcome.

I had lurked for a long time and one day just decided I was ready to participate. For weeks, I couldn't think of a witty screen name. Then it just came to me. I could be the Unknown Freeper. (Can you hear that Unknown Comic song?) As a black woman from NJ, I don't think I match the image most people have of the typical Freeper. I do love it here though.

My pirate name is Dread Pirate Rackham. "Like the famous Dread Pirate Roberts, you have a keen head for how to make a profit. You have the good fortune of having a good name, since Rackham (pronounced RACKem, not rack-ham) is one of the coolest sounding surnames for a pirate. Arr!" I think I'm a lot more feminine than my name sounds. lol

Upon first signing up at FR I attempted several "witty" monikers but they were taken already.

So, I did the natural thing. I used my own name.

After the Wiley cartoon of the same name.

We sort of have the same warped sense of humor.

Buffy's saved the world 5 times, lost her mom, pays bills and raises her 15 year old sister. It doesn't get better than that. Sarah Gellar also defended gun rights at the time of Columbine.

Only if 100 different people ask me nicely (say 'pretty please') will I reveal what my name means.

You're not alone, g!
My Dad's nickname among his Air Force buddies was Jinx, and my Army buddies labeled me likewise. The standard greeting on the way to morning formation was "Hi, Jinx!" Of course, my mischievous nature doesn't have anything at all to do with the fact that I try to use HiJinx or some variation thereof anytime I'm online!

Quess it's because my name is John, and my wife's name is Rhonda. (But when I post snide remarks on liberal websites, I use another name.)
