Instead of PIRG, you should have hit PERC.
Try this one, too:
NESARC -- National Endangered Spiecies Act Reform Coalition. I haven't gone through everything yet, but it seems more up to date, and is gathering support from other groups.

Please don't go off into a reply about overuse, this is something that can be repaired because trees do grow.

See the book "Fire in Sierra Nevada Forests" by George Gruell, from Mountain Press Publishing Co. His compilation of scenes of various forestry settings shows how poorly the extremes of both sides can be. In retrospect, I think clear cutting is actually kinder than no human impact and fire suppression; it does allow for regrowth of healthy trees that the closed canopy result of the extremists does not.

Thank you. I am impressed with your devotion to a real threat that is almost unheard of by most Americans.

Thank you. My intent was not to squelch the author, but to help him be more effective. The tone of the article needs work: less 'Wow look what I found' and more data.

I agree with you. If the loggers would leave 4 or 5 trees to the acre and not cut in straight lines I think the Greens wouldn't be able to see it as such an unnormal appearance in a fully grown forest. I think the appearance of a rectangle is so unnatural and that stirs up a lot of feelings.
