That trip behind the Iron Curtain has always bothered me. At the same time he was doing that, I was a young Air Force wife in West Berlin. Now that the Eastern Bloc is no more, people forget that travel to Moscow and Prague was NOT casually undertaken. You had to get visas and government permission...you just couldn't drive across the borders the way you do today.

His travel HAD to have been arranged by the Communist party, and I fervently hope that Vladimir Putin has some interesting documents he is just dying to give to President Bush.
