FRENCH CAMP -- As San Joaquin County Sheriff Baxter Dunn became mired even deeper in a corruption probe, he declared Friday that he "was never aware of any alleged illegal activities" involving his longtime friend Monte McFall.

An affidavit unsealed in U.S. District Court in Sacramento alleges that Dunn formed partnerships with former sheriff's deputy McFall and a state official in a scheme to make millions of dollars from a power plant project at the Port of Stockton.

That was NOT Gray Davis receiving the $100,000 check from Sheriff Dunn. It was a double hired by Bill Simon.

This scandal is big. It's certainly bigger than whether or not Davis accepted a campaign check in a state office.

The question is whether it will get enough exposure before the election to hurt Davis.

I don't know whether enough voters will read these accounts and understand what really happened before they vote.

As far as I can tell, the LA Times story on this consists of one stinking "In Brief/Sacramento" clip. In the print edition it's probably on page B-27 with the footpad advertising. Those guys can proclaim their objectivity all they want, but they're so in the tank for Davis it's obvious to anyone with eyes.

Sunlaw representatives said Sawyer introduced himself as a member of the governor's office. Sawyer told The Bee that he gave them a (STATE) business card only so they would have his fax number.

Yeh , right!

From another thread:

"The affidavit says that Sunlaw executives told agents Sawyer 'introduced himself as a member of the governor's office and a partner in MSD Ventures.' He provided them his Governor's Office business card."

Thus implying that Gray Davis was involved it would seem!

It's the turnout, stupid!

Click here to download the California Republican Liberty Caucus' tri-fold pamphlet on the governor's race!

It's a .pdf file, so you'll need Acrobat Reader... it's free, and chances are good you already have it on your computer. Try the link and see.

Print it using the printer-icon button in the Acrobat toolbar in your browser (not File|Print in your browser's menu). It's intended for double-sided printing using single pieces of paper-- no stapling needed if you do it that way, and saves trees! ;-) Print one side, then invert the paper and feed it through a second time for the second side. Fold, and sally forth to get out the vote!

Give this to friends, walk your neighborhood, take it to stores, give a wad of 'em to your school, hand some out at your house of worship, at clubs, at stores and small businesses...

Let's retire Gray Davis!

Let's show the media and RINOs that "It's the base, stupid!"

Let's show Gray Davis that money can't buy him love ...or re-election!

Freepers and RLC activists can claim considerable credit for nominating Bill Simon, so now let's elect him!
