I reach one conclusion: It's time for Gerry Parsky to go.

Hear, hear. That was the key mistake from which all the others flowed. Parsky was imposed on California to work for Riordan. After Riordan crashed and burned, Parsky was totally useless and destructive to Simon. Simon made some small mistakes, but the really big mistakes were made by the Republican operatives who thought that California would vote for another corrupt, abortionist RINO.

California, like New York and Washington State have been
lost to the Marxists. In all of these states, a minority of eligible voters participate anymore, leaving just the STAKEHOLDERs to take part.

Here are California's STAKEHOLDERS;

1. millions of legal hispanics
2. hundreds of thousands of illegal alien relatives of #1
3. Marxist activists and homosexual comrades in the Bay Area.
4. hundreds of thousands of legal Asians and THEIR illegal counterparts.

I predict that in the next 20 years, Southern Cal will become a province of Mexico called Aztlan, the Central Cal valley will remain mostly white and isolated, and Northern Cal will end up still in the States but at odds with Fly Over country America.

I was sitting in a autorepair shop waiting room talking with a retired California Correctional Officer when the subject of the upcoming election was mentioned on the news. The retired gentleman commented that he disliked Gray Davis but he "just could not vote for Simon who has been convicted of THREE felonies!" I challenged him on this "factoid" but he was adamant... Simon was a felon and would not get his vote. I asked exactly what felonies he was refering to and he explained about the "fraud" convictions. I explained to him the reversal of the CIVIL SUIT decision, the judge's comments on the Simon's actually being the VICTIMS, and the plaintiff's background as a drug kingpin. He dismissed all that because he had received a letter from Gray Davis' campaign explaining the "convictions" and he believed it. He then said he had mailed his absentee ballot that morning. Damn.

Key point: The total number of Republicans registered and eligible to vote on November 5th was 5,388,895. At last count, Simon received 2,814,399 votes. Just over two and a half million Republicans were not motivated to go to the polls and vote for Simon or any Republican. Why?

Yes, why? Face facts - it is not the marxists, the hispanics, the lib-dem's that cost the election. It is the so-called registered Republicans that never got off their asses and voted. Why bother to register if they're not going to vote?

Good post. I am even now looking for my dog-eared copy of Robert A. Heinlein's 1948 political manual, "TAKE BACK YOUR GOVERNMENT". He was a Californian when he wrote it (although born in Missouri) and he stressed the critical importance of large numbers of "foot soldiers" in elections- along with good organization and supervision of their efforts.

I think his points are still valid- even enhanced by modern communications, like the Net (and FR!)

Simon was a weak candidate. He ran a weak campaign. He was in charge. Don't bother with the clintonesque blame shifting.

I contacted the Simon campaign, twice, to volunteer, but never heard from them. That wasn't Parsky or Bush.

The state Repub. party may be in trouble, for lack of leadership. Consider this: Perhaps Bush/Rove weren't supportive of Simon, because they KNEW he was weak.

In my business career, I learned that the guy at the top is ALWAYS responsible. If he cannot staff an effort, raise money, manage the campaign for governor, what evidence does that provide that he is qualified for the job?

That is how many voters saw this election. My non-partisan wife said it was Mr. Corrupt vs. Mr. Stupid.
