Oh have no fear, gay out davis just came out of the beauty shop, hair all in place, clean shaven, nothing out of place and ready to go.

Nice going Calif. voters, you really know how to pick them.

Stop your whining, he's your leader so deal with your choice.

Voters replaced Connell, an unabashed defender of the taxpayer and fiscal truth teller, with Steve Westly, a liberal activist with no real financial background, and a desire to use his post to increase government spending.

Oh God, they're doomed.

I have been asking over and over again on these threads why Kathleen Connell has been so silent recently. Now we know.

It sure would have been nice if some Californian had mentioned the fact that she was voted out of office. I'm guessing that they didn't know, either...sigh.

I still have my "They'll Never Take Bullhead City" license plate from when I worked at the power plant across the river.

I now wish I had bought some land there in 1979. I could have, but there was no water, so I thought it was a bad gamble. Silly me...

So. when will Wall Street have to take over the daily budgetary management of Kalifornicator like they did with NYC when the tax and spenders got out of hand?

I would say sometime in late 2003 or early 2004!

I think that people in Arizona are about 4-8 years from living in one of the worse states in the country re taxes and corrupt leftwing Nut Politicians!

Besides McAinal, Arizona now has a Bull Dyke Clone of Jake Reno as governor. She/it hates America, our constitution and will enact hate crime laws, welcome more illegal aliens and tax the hell out of anyone who still works.

All of this will be approved by the retired leftwing socialists pouring into Arizona as fast as they retire, sell their homes in the snow belts and move to Arizona.

These wealthy retired socialists want everything for free or at a big discount. They will need millions of illegal aliens to clean their homes, take care of their yards and to work as personal attendants. In 4 years the Arizona legislature will make the Kalifornicator Legislators look like moderates. They will tax and spend and tax and spend until Arizona goes bankrupt. This is what these new elite socialist retirees will want.

Arizona in 4-8 years will make California look moderate.

Don't go to Washington - the socialists in Seattle run the state! I'm military in California (stil a resident of WA) - bought a house & was thinking of retiring here until Davis was re-elected. I like the small town I live in; I like the house; and I don't mind my drive (50 min) to work - but the combination of Davis & the passed bonds means it would be stupid for me to stay. So in a couple of years I'll sell & see where life takes me. I'm hoping for Utah, but I'm not likely to find work there...

I left in 97 and never looked back. I went to another tax hell, Wisconsin, but one with good schools, roads, other services and where I could feel safe letting my kids roam and be able to act like kids. Once the youngest is in college I will again be looking for another locale, this time one where I won't get the cr*p taxed out of me.

And it may be pretty in California, and warm (or at least not as Arctic as Wisconsin), but you CAN'T EAT THE SCENERY.

And you got to trade up to the Packers from the 49'ers....

Now, we know why Connell has been silent. And as she says....

I'm not sure if I'm more upset about the budget crisis caused by government officials who spent other people's money with wild abandon, or that no one will be there to demand a full accounting as the scandal unfolds.

This was news to me, as well. This is extremely unfortunate.

I'm a California native who left the state when my employer relocated me. I'd like to retire back in California in a few years, but I don't think I can. I'm not going to have my retirement income siphoned off in taxes to pay for the fiscal mismanagement that created the current situation.

It's not a short-term problem. The situation is SO bad that it will take a generation to repair, if California has the willpower to start addressing it now. And I'm not sure they do.

Getting rid of Connell indicates that they don't.

I found out that Kathleen Connell was termed-out. Tom McClintock, the Republican candidate, lost by a mere 16,000 votes out of 4.5 million.

Phenominal. Thanks for the post ... I think. Tom McClintock lost by 16,000 votes to Westly, and while the most conservative Republican on the ballot, he was also the top Republican vote getter. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Connell brought up some serious issues. I don't think I can get my husband to leave California anytime soon, but if things continue to deteriorate -- and our home starts to lose equity -- maybe we'll just have to bite the bullet.

"I'am headed for Detroit."

When the company passes out turkeys at thanksgiving, you can leave them in the trunk of your car until early March. They will be perfectly preserved.

Of course there is the California alternative Thanksgiving. it is called, "one turkey and six million forks."

Yeah, we knew it. It's just this state of utter black despair us CA conservatives have been in. Many of us are so dug in so deep economically it's hard to think of moving. But right now I'm considering every possibility.

It would be worth sticking it out here if we knew the guilty parties would actually get the blame for the economic mess we're in. But already the class warfare rhetoric is being cranked up in the media. Cutting services means the hard-hearted rich aren't paying their fair share, etc., etc., ad nauseum. The "homeless" are back in the headlines. As long as unproductive people can vote to tax productive people for their own selfish benefit, this mess will continue. The sight of the Haight-Ashbury Democrats doing their schtick in the Legislature fills me with very dark thoughts.

Austin, Texas anyone?

If the tech job market ever picks up again,
I'm there. I have some friends in Austin who
love it. It might be a liberal city, but
Texas overall is still solidly conservative.

Well, I guess I shouldn't have emailed my relatives in California this morning chewing them out for that, then. LOL. They would have voted for the Republican, anyway, though.
