PHOENIX, ARIZONA. FEBRUARY 8, 2010. Conservative J.D. Hayworth will formally launch his Republican primary challenge to 24-year incumbent John McCain from his new campaign headquarters in north Phoenix at 10am on February 15th.

The headquarters is located at 3129 E. Cactus Rd. Suite 31, Phoenix, Arizona 85028.

A new website — www.jdforsenate.com — has debuted in support of the announcement. More information about Hayworth and his challenge to the moderate McCain will be added to the site throughout the week.

Additional details about the three-day announcement tour will be released in the next several days.

Since leaving his radio talk show to pursue this conservative challenge, Hayworth has already garnered endorsements, donations and grassroots enthusiasm across the state and country.

Vulnerable to the more conservative Hayworth on taxes, social issues and illegal immigration, McCain has resorted to attacking Hayworth on spending, despite Hayworth having a better lifetime rating from Citizens Against Government Waste.

McCain also voted for the $850 billion bailout of the big banks which included $150 billion in pork, proposed a $300 billion bailout for mortgage lenders and, according to the Heritage Foundation, sponsored an amnest bill in 2007 that would have cost taxpayers $2.6 trillion over the long-term.

Paid for by JD HAYWORTH 2010

If J.D. Hayward couldn’t keep his safe Congressional seat, what makes you think he could be elected Senator from Arizona?

Welcome to Free Republic.

Why is it that you would want McCain rather than J.D.?

Do you favor a path to citizenship amnesty too?

I’ve read through your posts and notice that you consistently seem to side with and show support for PROGRESSIVE Rhinos like Scott Brown and John McCain and those who endorse them, like Palin. Why?

I opposed McCain for the GOP nomination, though his record will show that he was more conservative and principled than George W. Bush ever was.

Part of the Tea Party movement is to eduated Republicans what a poor president GWB was so that we don’t repeat the mistakes of the past.

McCain as Senator doesn’t bother me at all . . he will have little effect on making policy but is influential and respected in the U.S. Senate. I doubt if Hayworth could be elected if he couldn’t keep his congressional seat.

Scott Brown paired with Michell Bachmann would be a strong ticket, and could even result in a Republican landslide in 2012, which is what I want. Not a win, but a landslide.

Many Freepers think JD Hayworth could win becuase McCain only got 49% of the vote in the 2008 AZ Presidential primary. That is misleading. There are many Mormons in the Phoenix area. McCain was running against Romney, a Mormon.

JD Hayworth is a Baptist. He won’t getting the Mormon. Rep. Jeff Flake, a Mormon, is backing McCain. The Mormons will stand with McCain.

Also, Tea Party groups are divided over McCain. Some Tea Partiers want McCain’s head. But Dick Armey, of Freedom Works, blasted JD Hayworth for being a big pork spender and said its better to go after Dems than support JD.
