Palin Plays Hard to Get ("She's not playing by our rules!")
Time Magazine ^ | May 29, 2011 | Jay Newton-Smell

Almost any politician in America follows tried and true patterns when dealing with the media. They alert the media of an upcoming event, the media shows up, photos are taken, cameras roll. Sometimes questions follow. And then the media goes home. But not Sarah Palin.

Palin alerted the media of the first stop on her northeastern road trip: Rolling Thunder. But after some event organizers expressed displeasure at her attendance on Friday, her staff refused to comment about the appearance, and some reporters wondered if she’d even go. No time was given – the event lasted from 7am to 5pm. No venue was given – Rolling Thunder’s course goes for more than five miles from Arlington cemetery around the National Mall. The annual charity for prisoners of war and missing in action draws a quarter of a million bikes and an estimated 900,000 participants – good luck finding the Palin family.

Amazingly, some media did (bravo, AP’s Phil Elliott), though the former Alaska governor and vice presidential nominee mostly refused to answer questions. She signed jackets and hats, shook hands and admired tattoos. She rode on the back of her middle daughter, Willow’s Harley. Husband Todd rode with their youngest daughter Piper and their eldest daughter Bristol rode separately, according to media reports. Palin had “rolling justice” written in smeared ink on one hand and a George W. Bush sticker on her bike reading, “Miss me?” “There’s no better way to see D.C. than on the back of a Harley! My family may be used to snowmachines more so than motorcycles,” Palin wrote on her political action committee’s website. “But whether you’re riding the open road or the frozen tundra, you’re celebrating a free spirit. What could be more American than that?”(continued)

Let me see if I understand.
Sarah notified the media her family would participate in rolling thunder.
The media tried to sandbag Sarah by creating a negative narrative instead of reporting the news.
Sarah, interacts with rolling thunder participants, instead of the media.

To all the corrupt media>TOO BAD

“She rode on the back of her middle daughter, Willow’s Harley......From a rag that wants to be taken seriously....totally wrong and they couldn’t care less....”

That wasn’t Willow was it?.....I hear conflicting reports, but it doesn’t look like her either......The woman looks older than a 17 year old......

It probably would have gotten more coverage except for the Bamster’s political speech, I mean eulogy, yeah - that’s the ticket - in Joplin.

Yeah, LOL, DU is having “a come apart” at the thought Palin is entering the race. Their preferred candidate is Huntsman.

I saw no coverage of this event that wasn’t distracted with her presence.

News flash: She doesn't run the mainstream press. No matter where she goes she'll be the center of the press' eye. Does that mean she stay home?

Also, no matter what she does there will be people who will criticize her, just like your comment.

She rode on the back of her middle daughter, Willow’s Harley.

That gal that Sarah is riding with is not Willow........She's obviously a much, much older woman and is wearing a wedding ring.....

“I agree. She is not running for POTUS. She is running for something else.”

Your entire post sounded like something out of a NYT’s or Huffington Post commentary.....Time will tell......

We see through the snarky comments. You also made one about her son's wedding. Don't act like you don't know.

TIME means she' not playing by the Media's rules; she's not putting herself out there to be used as a punching bag for the next 19 months, as they would like.

No matter what Sarah does, or doesn't do, the left and the media are going to find something wrong (in their opinion) about it and try and blow it out of proportion.

But just like repeated use of your hand would result in calluses, they have beat her up so much, she has become immune to their goading and harassment. She figures they're going to say what they want anyway, so she is going to do whatever she pleases, within the law...just not THEIR law.

The left has allowed the media to takeover the rule-making in America, and they are livid that Sarah is not playing by their rules.

Regardless of the "tar baby" articles they put out "hoping" Sarah will run because "obama can easily beat her", they are scared out of their wits that she might. And, the upper echelon, old-line GOP are afraid their days of graft, corruption, and earmarking might be over if Sarah gets in the White House. She has a definite record of "policing her own (party)".

I would guess that the MSM spends the better part of their week, every week, thinktanking on how to pull the next "gotcha" on Sarah Palin. I don't know about the rest of the world, but people that are "no threat" to me seldom pop up on my radar screen. Competitors in sports, enemies in war, the ALL study the opposition that they fear the post, and Sarah has been studied ad infinitum by these lightweights, and they still can't figure it out.

Just follow them for dead proof; when Trump was making waves, they were giving him an anal, he backed off and they barely mention his name...unless he utters that he "might" get back into the race.

Herman Cain is making waves, they are starting to buzz around him and regurgitating the White House talking points as they go.

Huckabee's out, and probably Gingrich too.

As soon as anyone stops being an election threat to their great obama, they lose interest and move on. Any new "threat" and the entire 24-7 news cycle is devoted to trashing them.

Obama is big on the "hope" thing...well here's my hope, that the mainstream media will be deserted and treated like the American traitors they are when obama leaves office.

I would hope their advertisers are bombarded weekly with a campaign to complaints about any liberal show they sponsor...they're doing it to us right now.

The MSM is a corrupt entity, bought and paid for by Soros and playing kingmaker for obama.

As for Palin, she is the only one in the race that can, and WILL stop this liberal onslaught of America. She can beat obama without even putting on her makeup. Believe it.

One of the reasons for the lack of coverage was the fact that ALL cable networks covered the entire memorial service for the tornado victims in Missouri.

The message of the meaning of the day WAS NOT LOST!!! It was only lost for those that accepted the MSNBC type coverage of the event. MSNBC types hate Sarah Palin more than they respect the troops, so they had no problem trying to distort the message.

If indeed the main reason for the lack of coverage was due to the possibly over done coverage of the Missouri tornado victims memorial service, then I think that was a poor judgment call by the networks.

Many of them wanted to cover the filthy current President, more than they wanted to cover Rolling Thunder. Also they may have been afraid of positive coverage of Gov Palin.

CSPAN coverage was probably pulled because they did not want to cover Gov Palin, there was no reason for the in and out coverage that was impossible to catch on CSPAN. They were showing repeat broadcasts while they had a crew on the ground with a camera at Rolling Thunder.

The lack of coverage was not Sarah Palin`s fault!

Monday MorNing coverage on MSNBC.....

I just saw a report on MSNBC and they managed to get some pictures with people with long faces around Gov Palin. I noticed one of the pics had a guy appearing to look not happy, but we see this same guy again beaming with Sarah and getting her autograph in FR pics from Sunday.

So it seems, no surprise that MSNBC went out of their way to put together the most unflattering pics they could find (they only showed about 4 pics) then they talked about how Sarah got such a mixed reception and how she may not have been welcomed.

I cursed them as I turned away.

We all saw the wonderful photos, we read the CBS report how protective they were of Sarah. To say she got a unwelcome response was certainly a work of fiction.

You say “Wow. Thank you for posting the photo of Gov. Palin and Rep. Allen West. It makes me smile. They’re two of my favorites.

Two fine folks indeed”

INDEED!

“turned up, uninvited”

We were trying to schedule a video shoot with a client who couldn't do Thursday or Friday because he was joining Rolling Thunder. When I saw the "uninvited" thing I asked him if he was invited (via cellphone). He just laughed. It is something those riders chose to participate in. No one issues formal invites. I thought Sarah Palin kept it very low key.
