Texas Grows Spending Almost 100% during Perry's Tenure

Posted on 08/14/2011 2:07:40 PM PDT by BereanBrain

During Perry's Tenure in Texas, Spending in Texas grew from about 49 Billion a year, to over 90 Billion a year. Texas budgets every 2 years, to the following show the budgets for both Bi-annums. Divide by two for average yearly spending.

Texas 2010-2011 Budget 182 Billion

http://sunshinereview.org/index.php/Texas_state_budget

Texas 2000-2001 Budget was ~98 Billion and is available at

http://www.lbb.state.tx.us/Bill_76/Bill-76-4_Conference_Summary_0599.pdf

In other words CLOSE to 100% Growth in spending. (from 49 B to 91 B)

During this time, the Census says Texas grew from 20 Million (2000 Census) to 25 Million (2010 Census). That’s a growth of 25 Percent.

So much for Perry's Fiscal Conservative Credentials.

We have 1.5 YEARS before the General.

I am hoping for better candidates. This is way too early (should start no earlier than october/november of this year).

In fact, the later a candidate delays before joining, the more smarts they show.

Palin’s non-entry shows she is no dummy. I predict she declares later this year.

I think she is better than Perry, but she is far from a good candidate. Bachman is pretty good too.

I like RIck Sanatelli for VP (he’s not a politician). Herman Cain would be good except he worked for the Federal Reserve. So he has a way to go to convince me.

A smart businessman/woman may enter the race later this year since the field is so weak, and the opportunity is so ripe.

In other words, This is the primary season, and I am undecided so far. I happen to know Rick best, because I have lived in Texas. I have attended many Tea Party meetings in Texas an have been offended by Rick’s peoples attitudes toward the Tea Party.

Basically they show up and tell us to lump it or leave it about policy. The old “don;t let door hit you on the A@@@” as we say in Texas.

Have you seen the Texas Debt Clock?

I've seen the debt clock, and it doesn't seem out of line for a state that large. Alaska has a higher debt to GDP ratio than Texas. Should we blame Sarah for that?

I am a member of the TEA Party, BB. Held educational classes for the TEA Party; friends with most of the leaders here in North TX.

And FTR, my first choice is HERMAN CAIN, as repeatedly stated on FR.

So get off your soapbox and stop spreading propaganda. You want to hit Rick Perry? There is enough truth out there to hurt him without nonsense and spin.

First, if that growth would have occurred without insane taxes and no deficit, as it has in Texas, yes, that would be fine.

Second, the fedgov monster started out too big.

Third, your figures are not accurate wrt fedgov growth under Obama.

Fourh, the growth most conservatives care about isn’t just the number of employees, it also the growth of fedgov power. Again, Texas hasn’t had that type of growth.

Not a huge Perry fan, but could vote for him. Hit pieces such as this article and your comment atually make that much more likely...

You keep posting your misleading figures, don't you?
Yes he does.
So the budget grew at about 3% per year after population and inflation.

argue with the debt clock. 40 Billion this year in the red. That’s unsustainable.

You're pathetic. I wonder if you are even a Texan. If you were, you would realize that the shortfall was for a 2-year budget cycle, not for one. Also that the budget of $91 Billion was for two years, or $45.5 billion per year. And the budget is not in the red - it can't be. Perry and the legislature managed to balance the budget with cuts and the rainy day fund (that is what rainy day funds are for, dimbulb), and avoided raising taxes.

And did you ever once, in your fevered rantings, stop to consider that the recent revenue shortfall might have something to do with the deepest recession since the great depression?

We have 1.5 YEARS before the General.

AFAIK, candidates have to declare by the end of this month, who else besides Palin is in the wings?

You still haven't said who is your pick, though I have to admit I don't have one either.

All I am saying is that obama MUST be defeated at all costs, he wins in 2012 and it is over. He'll go so afar left it'll make even our heads spin. (if your head is not spinning already)

I'm not happy with our current selection but it seems it has become a matter of survival, we're going to have to unite with somebody soon.

Perry is faaaaar from my idealistic pick, but I think he would utterly trounce bammie.

Clueless. A non politician has zero chance. Especially entering late. This is why Forbes and Perot are not President and why Cain will not be.

I'm no Perry fan myself and I will likely vote for the most conservative candidate in the primaries, however.....however, If it comes down to Perry vs O-bozo...you bet I'll cast my vote for Perry.

The very thought of this idiot lording over us another 4 years makes my gag reflexes ping.

Hey, I got an idea.....let's reelect obama!! Yeah, that's the ticket! Would that make you happy, who's your perfect candidate? (that can win)

Yaaaaaaaaaaah! Don't all these "don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good" people realise that we *WANT* a candidate who will only appeal to 20% of the voters?!?!?!?!

Because it doesn’t help his slamming of Perry?

I would too, but I'm not exactly thrilled about it.

I think you'll find unemployment is lower (then the National average) in energy producing states and around D.C.

If we're going to base our selection of a candidate on the unemployment rate, why don't we draft Gov. Jack Dalrymple?
