Is it too much to ask whether we have any prospects out there who are proven leaders, solid conservative values and maybe a little combat time?

All we get are these mealy-mouthed self-interested hairpieces who want the job but aren't worthy of it - or just completely deranged, like Ron Paul.

I guess Perry failed to consider that old saying..
“You live by the sword, you die by the sword”

So Perry now lacks “intellectual attachment”?

Is that something like Obama lacking moral attachment as far as Solyndra and other crony-fundraiser taxpayer giveaways are concerned?

Hmmm, does that mean Perry might lack “moral attachment as well? So if only Perry had emotional, intellectual and moral attachment, he might make a reasonable presidential candidate for us?

If we don’t learn that it ain’t over until at LEAST a few actual votes are cast, we’re about as good at this politcal thing as the blabbermouths on The View.

As Rudy found out last time if you get in late and you bet it all on Florida you must win. Bachmann is done and I hope she gets back to running for her house seat instead of running up campaign debt. She might have had a VP chance but going overboard on Gardisil and mental retardation was jumping the shark.

It will be interesting to see who among Cain, Perry and Romney can have a good fundraising quarter.

Perry’s views on the border are troubling to say the least. At a time of 16% (actual) unemployment, and a shooting war on our southern border, we don’t need any mealy mouthed platitudes about not having a heart if you don’t support in-state tuition for illegals. IMHO, Perry was channeling his inner progressive with that statement and it won’t play well this cycle.

Rick Perry needs to examine his "heart." If there is a person in this country illegally what should be done to that person? Should they and their family be deported or rewarded with subsidies from the state they are currently residing in?

Mr. Perry and his great state of Texas is in a dilemma. He can keep siding with illegals or... tell Americans that he, and his legislature, were wrong on their position of aiding and abetting illegal immigrants.

In a nutshell - Does the rule of law mean anything?

It’s going to be a long campaign year...lots will happen, within the campaigns and out there in the world.

The one thing we can count on is that the MSM will do whatever they think it takes to reelect The One.

Any Reublican who emerges will be shown to be mostly stupid and complicit with big business to destroy the middle class.

In addition he/she will want to destroy social security and force old people to die.

The story has already been written.

Perry is, unlike Romney and Obama, eligible.

Now if he could only be cured of his RINO impulses.

“Rick Perry, Governor of Texas, created waves when he entered the GOP race for the presidential nomination. His entry scared off other vultures who were circling, like Giuliani and Palin perhaps...”

Idiotic statement. I dont know anything about perry other than he is texan and thats enough for me not to vote for him. But the idea that Palin is scared off by Perry is Idiotic. Palin allowed the field to clear itself without spending a dime. That is what I call discernment. A rare quality today, extinct among Political types, but we see it regularly in Palin.

Maybe the Republican machine can stop elevating every flaky sunbelt governor into a potential presidential candidate. just a thought... These charlatans aren't delivered to the scene on the shoulders of populists, word comes down from on high that Gov. Whatever is now the GOP front runner.

The election is barely a year away and we don't even have a serious candidate on the stage or in the wings and precious time is being wasted on these flameouts.

Yes, because we WON’T accept another open-border RINO!

http://governor.state.tx.us/news/speech/10688/

“Today we begin a new dialogue about our shared future, a future of promising potential if we work together to solve the challenges we both face. It is fitting that we convene this summit where the great, meandering river known as the Rio Grande – or the Rio Bravo – forms the long border between Texas and Mexico. In years past, that famed body of water has been seen by many as a dividing point, If you were to walk along its banks and look to the other side, based on the stereotypes of the past, you would think you were seeing things a million miles away, instead of a stone’s throw away. But I am here today to say that while we have honest differences, there is more that unites us than divides us. The Rio Grande does not separate two nations, it joins two peoples. Mexico and the United States have a shared history, and a common future. And it is along this border where we will either fail or succeed in addressing the education, health care and transportation needs of our two peoples.”

It is simple for me ... immigration is the third rail, touch it one way you get energy, touch it the other way you instantly die! He touched on the immigration problem the wrong way ... lost my vote instantly.

“It you can’t stand the heat...get out of the kitchen.”

Harry Truman

Perry entered with fanfare and stomped on Bachmann in the process by the timing of his announcement. Now I am not a Bachmann fanatic, but it was NOT a classly thing to do. Also, it showed an arrogant streak. Time for him to bow out. I hope Sarah will now enter.

As a Palin backer but someone who is still closely examing all candidates, I’d give Perry a chance before ditching him. Despite his regrettable comments concerning immigration. But he’ll have to give one heck of a performance to regain his footing after the three poor performances so far. I’ve not been able to watch any of the debates since I’ve either been working or away from the tv. I need more evidence to make a judgment. Too early yet.

I can’t believe what I am hearing and reading. After all of the lies. deceiving, stupid statements, bad political calls coming from all the other candidates plus the idiots in the white house now, we are going to write off Perry for being honest?

I get the feeling their is a lot of dazed and shocked Perry supporters here asking themselves, “Why did he fail?”
All I can say is that most people are still too short on vetting a person, too quick to idolized an iconic image especially when it has the word “Texas” involved.

But on the flip side its no big secret the FR is full of very very clever outside democratic groups that are finding subtle ways to herd the internet flocks. The only satisfying consolation I see with that deduction is that they are also terribly frustrated that Sarah Palin won’t fly off like a spooked grouse while they are beating the bushes.
