Does Cruz have a path to the nomination?

He sure does, says Team Cruz.

But the key to victory, Cruz advisers believe, is to be the second choice of enough voters in the party’s libertarian and social conservative wings to cobble together a coalition to defeat the chosen candidate of the Republican establishment…

To them, the Republican primaries are a series of single-elimination brackets where the four GOP leaders who best represent the party’s libertarian, establishment, social conservative and tea party wings will survive as the field winnows. Cruz will vie for the support of the tea party electorate, his advisers say, but will fare well enough with social conservative and libertarian voters to assemble a powerful coalition.

Red State’s Dan McLaughlin elaborates:

Cruz path: 1) Walker stumbles 2) Jindal, Perry don't get
traction 3) liquidate Carson, Huck, Santorum early 4) out-purist Rubio 5) 1-1 w/Jeb

It’s a war of attrition and Cruz is well equipped for a war like that in theory. A chunk of the party sees him as the True Conservative in the race and will likely hang with him for months after voting begins. He and Rubio are often compared to each other but they’re in opposite positions to start: Cruz has an obvious niche on the right to fill, which makes him a contender in Iowa and South Carolina, whereas Rubio somehow has to cobble together votes across the spectrum while leapfrogging Scott Walker as the candidate who can best unite the party....

Good evening. I trust you are doing well.

Its going to take us doing all we can from donating to volunteering. He won’t be getting the big money donors so we have to step up, give till it hurts and do campaign work for free.

Yep.

Sen. Cruz has a lot of opposition. From the DNC, unions, federal employees, Soros etc., not to include the Rat candidate and the state controlled media.

Did I mention academia?

The Kehoe household will assist his campaign.

And, to rule that Cruz is not a native born citizen would also (after the fact) disqualify 0bama, whose mother was not old enough to confer citizenship on him at the time of his birth. Cruz’ mother was.

Well you’d have to establish the fact that Baraq actually was born outside the US. So far that hasn’t been done, although there is a lot of suspicion.

Cruz’s Canadian birth is not in dispute.

the American people need to hear Ted Cruz without the filter/bias of the media. he will connect with everyday Joe and Jane and their family.

I signed up today and I am in until the end.

Big money donor Foster Friess spoke very highly of Ted Cruz today. No commitment for money from him at this point because he’s pouring a lot of money into funding the Kurds and Yzidis in Iraq but I got the impression that he’ll back Cruz.

Cruz destroys all in debate.

Problem is, most Americans don’t watch the Debates and those that do either have their mind made up, and watch to root for their candidate, or don’t have their mind made up and let CNN and NBC tell them who won. If the Debates decided the Election, we could start practicing saying “President Cruz”.

“Furthermore, you understand that no one in this country has any standing at all to even bring this case until he is president”

Wouldn’t the “standing” issue be up to the judge?

“Remember Fred Thompson?”

He withdrew after I mailed my absentee ballot but before the primary in my state.

Your explanation assumes that a US citizen is the same thing as a natural born citizen, which is required for eligibility under the Constitution. That’s where the issue arises.

Normally, I would be concerned about this, but, as another Freeper said elsewhere, Ted Cruz is one of the 10 smartest Constitutional Lawyers in America. (If you don't believe it, ask Harvard Professor Alan Dershowitz.) I'm sure Ted has the steam roller ready to roll over this little "bump in the road". The guy is brilliant.

Is there actually a board or court somewhere that actually rules on this citizen stuff? Or does somebody have to file a lawsuit against a candidate and it grinds through the legal system like any other case?

Do you remember how Romney caught up with and in some polls overtook Obama in the polls after clobbering Obama in the first debate for the 2008 elections? Romney essentially failed to press his advantage in the subsequent debates by getting his foot off the pedal by not going after Obama aggressively enough on Benghazi etc.
In the GOP primary debates, Newt Gingrich got a major bump in the polls when he took on and challenged some debate moderators for their left wing, pro Obama bias. Debates matter. They always have.

Judging by the amount of vitriol and doubt already pouring out of everyone it seems Cruz is likely to be the nominee.

I’m counting on the Debates to “matter”. In the Debate when Candy Croley opened her hog jows and “corrected” Romney when he was correct, was one of the biggest campaign mistakes Romney made. He should have bitch slapped that fat, ugly slut on the spot.

Something of this magnitude would have to go to the Supreme Court.

Yup. As mentioned in my post, Newt Gingrich took the lead in the polls when he “bitch slapped” a couple of moderators for their obvious bias, something that resonated with GOP primary voters. Romney reserved his most effective attacks against fellow GOPers not Obama.
