Koch Brothers Reveal List of 5 Potential GOP Candidates to Support
Mediaite ^ | April 21, 2015 | Matt Wilstein

Posted on 04/21/2015 7:35:43 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

On Monday, The New York Times — and, in turn, Mediaite — reported that billionaire brothers David and Charles Koch had settled on Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) as their preferred Republican candidate to back in the 2016 presidential election. “We will support whoever the candidate is,” David Koch reportedly said at a fundraising event. “But it should be Scott Walker.”

Now, however, in an interview with USA Today, Charles Koch has said that their field of potential endorsees is larger than just one. He confirmed that they are actually looking at five candidates who they believe have “a good chance of getting elected: Walker, Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio.

“Those are the ones we have talked to the most and who seem to be the possible leaders,” Koch said. “What we’ve told them all is that right now, we’re not supporting anyone. We’re telling them that if they want our support, one way to get it is articulating a good message to help Americans get a better understanding and a better appreciation of how certain policies … will benefit them and will benefit all America.”

Koch also confirmed that his organization plans to spend up to $300 million on political campaigns in 2016. During the 2012 election, the Republican National Committee raised and spent $400 million. If the Kochs do decide to back a Republican candidate during the primary, it would be the first time the did so in a presidential election.

“Only if somebody really stands out from the standpoint of their message and what they would actually do to benefit America and has a chance a decent chance of being elected, only then would we select one over the others,” he said, adding, “We may give several of them some money to get this positive message out.”

Ahh....you need to do more research on Ted Cruz’ position on illegal immigration—you don’t understand it.

I know exactly what H-1B visa is....a job taken away from an American citizen and replaced by a cheap worker from China or India.

That said, I am actually in favor of H1-B visa’s. Because we should import all the techies available to us.

What we need to get rid of fast is all those hordes of illegal AND LEGAL immigrants without useful skills, and draining welfare dollars. The legal ones are coming as relatives of naturalized citizens.

Well, since you have already done the “research”, why not summarize your findings for us all?

As for me, allowing a single illegal is AMNESTY of sorts.
Enforce the laws and deport every one of those who broke our laws.

“Senator Cruz is most conservative on issues except immigration. He is on record for expanding H-1B visa’s five fold.”

You are skipping a huge piece of information - ALL of the other candidates would pass amnesty. Walker has flipped in this issue 3 times, so he can’t be counted on to do the conservative thing.

But Cruz will NOT pass amnesty, no matter what it is called.

There is a huge difference between legal and illegal immigrants. HUGE. When one starts out being a criminal and does not contribute to this society, but instead takes from it - that is a pattern set for most of their lives and their children’s lives.

Those that come here with H-1B visas are usually educated, can speak English or have the IQ to pick it up quickly, and work legally and pay taxes.

Should be employ Americans instead of importing educated foreigners? Heck, yes! BUT the liberals have taken over education in our schools and our own kids are neither educated nor willing to work. They are taught an entitlement attitude in school. Just ask any employer.

So, until the education system is fixed, I’m ok with a temporary increase in LEGAL immigrants.

“He should be proposing legislation giving tax breaks and incentives to high tech companies and colleges and universities to train and employ American born tech workers. I’m tired of American companies getting engineers, doctors, and scientists on the cheap from overseas. An engineer from China and a computer scientist from India who are here on worker visas means two less high paying jobs for two Americans. That should anger all of us.”

It should, but here’s the reality: the number of engineers in this country from our universities is dropping for American students. Only a small percentage of our kids in high school take physics and calculus - therefore, few are ready to major in engineering. Our schools have done an abysmal job of getting our kids ready - or encouraging them to study hard - for such a curriculum.

US schools have been at the bottom or near bottom in the Trends in International Math and Science Studies (TIMMS) ever since they were started in 1983. We cannot compete internationally scholastically, so how can we compete economically?

The majority of masters degrees in engineering from OUR universities were earned by foreign students!

If you want to be mad, be mad at the public educational system hijacking by liberals and the intentional dumbing down of the curriculum. THAT is what has caused this mess.

“We have plenty of very talented tech workers in the US. Many of them have had to train their H-1B replacements.”

How about a source?

The number of American students taking engineering classes is dropping every year. Our kids are just not capable of the math required because they don’t get the foundation in high school.

And ask any employer about the work ethic of the American student these days. They are taught all about entitlement in liberal-run schools.

And I seriously doubt anyone has had to train their replacement in a high tech job - if anyone is laid off in something somewhat sensitive, they are let go immediately so they do not do any damage or take any sensitive material with them. Provide a source, other than some bleeding-heart blog.

Are you trying to tie Walker for how many times you can flip on a subject?

I never flip. I have NEVER said I am against H-1B visa’s.
That does not preclude me from pointing out senator Cruz’s position on H-1B visa’s. Learn to comprehend English.

Many more legal immigrants are collecting government checks than illegals. I know personally 5 individuals who came in legally as parents of naturalized citizens, and every one of them is collecting supplemental social security checks and get Medicaid even though their sponsors for green cards have plenty of money. None of those legal immigrants worked even an hour in the United States. How is that benefiting the country?

You criticize Cruz’s stance on these visas so it is usual to assume you are against them.

So you are instead criticizing something that you are for?

So if you criticize Obama for being a communist, that doesn’t mean that you are not a communist nor have every been one. Pretty odd.

Having a bipolar day?

I received a one question phone poll tonight. It listed 8 names of possible Republican nominees....
not in order....
Bush
Rubio
Walker
Paul
Huckabee
Christie
Jindal
Carson

Option 9 was somebody not mentioned. That was my choice. I found it interesting that even though Ted Cruz has declared he is running, they chose to list several that are only hinting.

It isn’t.

I was talking bout those on H-1B visas being educated and employed, therefore not a drain on this country.

YOU are somehow trying to change the subject to all immigrants and trying to infer that I was talking about them all.

Now who is having trouble with English and comprehension?

Or are you being intentionally obtuse, a common tact among the liberals. A straw man argument that I will not be drawn into since it has nothing to do with H-1B visas - which is what YOU were criticizing Cruz for (even though you now say you are all for letting in as many of these H-1B visa holders as we can).

I’m not even sure lefties can talk in such geometric shapes as you have tonight!

Someone needs to let you and others know none of this is to benifit this country...they are flying immigrants hear from S. America...Syria and you can bet soon from N.Africa and Libya via Italy and Europe. ...

It’s useless to speak about what is legal or not...nobody’s abiding by any of the rules. And if they do it’s talk. This is about forced migration and they’re all on board this gravy train.

They’ll all have medical, disability, living expenses and education.........and Obama’s not done yet.

We must remember that even our idol Ronald Reagan gave Amnesty to the illegals. Not that I am happy about it.

H-1Bs are not immigration

H-1Bs are work permits or Work Visas. They are short term

The media is pulling your leg.

The lazy Americans will not work. America needs workers. Either we shutdown welfare or we import workers.

How far do you think Cruz would get if he said we are going to shutdown welfare? Conservatives real far. MSM, BBQed...
