On Monday, The New York Times — and, in turn, Mediaite — reported that billionaire brothers David and Charles Koch had settled on Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) as their preferred Republican candidate to back in the 2016 presidential election. “We will support whoever the candidate is,” David Koch reportedly said at a fundraising event. “But it should be Scott Walker.”
Now, however, in an interview with USA Today, Charles Koch has said that their field of potential endorsees is larger than just one. He confirmed that they are actually looking at five candidates who they believe have “a good chance of getting elected: Walker, Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio.
“Those are the ones we have talked to the most and who seem to be the possible leaders,” Koch said. “What we’ve told them all is that right now, we’re not supporting anyone. We’re telling them that if they want our support, one way to get it is articulating a good message to help Americans get a better understanding and a better appreciation of how certain policies … will benefit them and will benefit all America.”
Koch also confirmed that his organization plans to spend up to $300 million on political campaigns in 2016. During the 2012 election, the Republican National Committee raised and spent $400 million. If the Kochs do decide to back a Republican candidate during the primary, it would be the first time the did so in a presidential election.
“Only if somebody really stands out from the standpoint of their message and what they would actually do to benefit America and has a chance a decent chance of being elected, only then would we select one over the others,” he said, adding, “We may give several of them some money to get this positive message out.”
So do I.
I believe he is on the record supporting the removal of welfare benefits to illegals. This alone will solve much of the problem.

I wish Cruz would appoint the excessed IRS employees to process deportations and deport on a massive scale, starting with those who have broken other laws.
My grandson graduated top of his class in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Virginia, Commonwealth, last year. He is currently pursuing his masters and just had his first paper published. He already has a job lined up at Oak Ridge. There is a shortage of qualified engineers in the U.S. to fill available jobs.
Companies want the best qualified people and until American Students stop attending school to smoke pot and party, those jobs are going to go to foreign engineers and scientists.
I honestly don't know what is Ted Cruz's stance on this, but I can say absolutely that the H-1B problem is a huge problem for American skilled workers.
What you say about engineering jobs is to some extent true...all skilled engineers are in demand. Computing jobs and other technical specialties are much more heavily impacted by foreign workers. Your grandson may have an additional advantage that Oak Ridge is about 50% government jobs. The federal government cannot make permanent hires of people on H-1B visas. Congrats to your grandson on his achievements and future prospects -- but don't think for a minute that his experience tells the tale for everyone.
That is the job he settled on at Oak Ridge, in part because he had an internship there and liked it. He had several offers and was even offered a spot at MIT to work on his masters. His dad had cancer at the time and he wanted to be closer to home.
In general, I think young people could benefit from technical and trade schools over college in many instances.
You are wrong. Plenty of American computer programmers are available. They get laid off and replaced by half priced foreign workers.
I am aware that LEGAL IMMIGRATION IS EXCESSIVE.
With 20% real unemployment, $18 Trillion in recorded debt, $100 Trillion in unfunded future liabilities to social security & Medicare & Medicaid & Obamcare, this country can not afford 1 million new LEGAL immigrants EVERY YEAR, half of them requiring welfare for which they are eligible with a green card.

Walker and Ted Cruz are going for the same voters. They are the very best from a Conservative stand point, and therefore will unfortunately siphon votes from each other. Ron Paul is not too far behind them but some of his positions are too out there and not as easy to defend. I hope Rubio and Bush are joined by Lindsay Graham, and that Huckabee does not run.

Like I said, you must have not done well in comprehension in school. The reason I point out senator Cruz’a agenda for increasing H-1B visa’s five fold is because there are many posters who do not know that, and secondly, many posters accuse Governor Walker and others as pro-amnesty. I hate hypocritical accusations by supporters of one candidate for other candidates.
Lets face the raw truth...Cruz, Walker, Rubio, Paul, Bush, Huckabee, Carson, etc all will allow MOST illegals to remain in the country with some type of legal status.

The first candidate who declares he will deport every law breaking immigrant, goes immediately to the top of my preference list. And gets a cash contribution in mail the same day.

I have been saying exactly what you said “programming is low skilled work”. I learned many programming languages such as Cobol, Fortran, dBase, etc very quickly. It took me 6 years of college to get a master’s degree in engineering and 10 more years of work experience before I could call myself a “good” engineer. I developed many complex expert software products because I developed myself into an “expert” engineer, not because of my easy to acquire programming skills.

Exactly. I got my engineering degree back in the 80’s. There were already at least 25-33% foreign students in those classes. With each decade of our schools being dumbed down, less and less of our kids can handle a difficult curriculum.
I was appalled how few kids were taking physics when my son went to high school. If they don’t take it, they won’t even know if they are interested in a career in physics or engineering (engineering is just applied physics).
Your nephew should have a fine career in front of him, with lots of opportunities.

We don’t need to waste taxpayers money rounding up and deporting them, although I’d be fine with that also.
It’s more important to enforce laws stopping employers from hiring them. And quit giving them freebies - welfare, medical, food stamps, housing, etc. Most would leave pretty quick and the rest could be deported.
