Pataki, Jindal address Trump's comments at New Hampshire picnic

Pataki sends letter to other GOP candidates asking them to call out Trump on comments regarding illegal immigrants.

ALLENSTOWN, N.H. —Presidential candidates flocked to the Granite State during the July Fourth weekend.

Former New York Gov. George Pataki and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal attended a cookout hosted by the Merrimack County Republican Committee. The event was low-key and gave both Republican candidates the chance to talk one on one with voters.

Both candidates had something to say about recent comments from Republican challenger Donald Trump.

“I am disappointed he (Trump) hasn’t seen that it was a stupid and wrong comment,” Pataki said. “I have and I have repudiated it.”

Pataki sent a letter to the other GOP candidates asking them to call Trump out for calling illegal immigrants rapists and murderers.

“They may think that they can get away with letting it blow over, but it’s not going to work like that,” Pataki said. “And the next November the Democrats are going to remind people of Trump’s comments and we have better have had stood up and said that this is the wrong thing.”

Jindal, however, said while it is not his job to police other candidates, he agrees with Pataki.

“I don’t view people as members of ethnic groups or economic groups,” Jindal said. “This president has done too much to divide us, so obviously I disagree with his (Trump's) comments. I think we need to look at people as individuals.”

Trump has not backed down from his comments despite businesses and organizations cutting ties with his brand.

“I run and tell the facts, and the facts are we are being very badly hurt by Mexico, economically and at the border,” Trump said. “And obviously Univision is not happy about that.”

Why don’t you read your own link. With the border secured and the benefits dried up, most illegals will self-deport. And there wouldn’t be any repeat offenders.

I mostly agree with you. Cruz and Walker, but I have doubts about both. But even if he is a long shot Jindal should be in that group. Especially since Cruz seems like he’s going soft on social issues. But the Trump charade is going to hurt them all.

And you believe Trump will do that? Because someone has to seriously insane to trust him on this. He has a history of lying and saying whatever is convenient and not following through.

He's a real estate developer. His business depends on illegals more than any other candidate. So trusting he is actually on the level is beyond foolish.

Conservatives who trust him on immigration just want to prove they are as stupid as MSNBC says they are.

Yes, Trump's idiotic statement that drive sympathy towards amnesty.

And he had the Mexican government exactly backwards. The most motivated people leave Mexico. So the corrupt parts of the Mexican government benefit because the people most likely to oppose the government leave. That's what's kept Castro in power 50+ years.

By the way, Trump’s mother was an immigrant. So I guess she’s a rapist too.

The only thing worse than being asked about Trump, is not being asked about Trump...

and then having to go "Ahem? Is this mic on? This is what I think about what Trump said..."

Wow! She was an illegal immigrant? Oh, the irony! Here, call the New York Post at 212-930-8288. They’ll want to hear about that.

Doesn’t matter as long as you can use her to smear Don Trump! Hurry! Call that number. Oh, btw, Jindal, Haley, Cruz and Rubio have immigrant parents, too. Be sure to tell that to whichever reporter you talk to. And I heard that Scott Walker still hasn’t returned that library book about building model boats. Also, did you know he never finished college? And, there’s a rumor that Chris Christie has food issues and Graham is effeminate and has never been married. Boy, you’re gonna bowl-over whoever answers that phone!

So what's your point? All GOP candidates besides Trump are evil?

By the way, I never smeared Trump. Try reading his own words?

The most motivated people leave Mexico.

Really now. Well, I guess if I had the hangman after me, I'd be motivated too.

It’s not a new concept. Ever heard of Cuba? Castro depended on it. Same with Nazi Germany. The most motivated people escaped from Germany. The people who could. But a lot of people, and lot of Jews didn’t make it out.

“Jindal may be the only full bore Conservative left in the race.”

I think one can question his conservative creds from the start. After all, he JUMPED on Common Core at first opportunity and how has spent the past 2 years trying to extricate his state from it. Even Rick Perry (more by luck) got it right.

I like Jindal, but he OBVIOUSLY, like most Republican candidates, did not (maybe does not) understand the degree of pure evil that is represented in the Democrat Party. If he did, there is no way he would have fallen for Common Core.

I suspect his background kept him sheltered from really understanding who those people are...not his fault, but he needs to at least trust conservatives when they tell him not to snatch at the apples that Obama dangles in front of him.

So now you’re equating legal and illegal immigrants, just like all the open border lefties. You’re suffering from some serious Trump Derangement Syndrome.

I live in Louisiana. Jindal is NOT a conservative. He governs just like Obama. He just talks like one when he leaves the state. He’s got it down pat.
