Trump may be setting up party for Cruz
The Sauk Valley Gazette ^ | July 31, 2015 | Richard Rowland Polo

Posted on 08/01/2015 5:34:40 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

While perusing the articles and stories one can find on the computer (my wife says I spend way too much time on this thing), and the posted comments related to the articles, I came across a comment concerning Donald Trump (imagine that) and his lack of qualifications to be the next president.

A poster had commented that Republicans can’t seem to get it right in their selection of candidates; notably, with Trump in the mix.

Deciding to have a little fun with this person, I pointed out that the Democrats hadn’t done such a hot job picking a candidate in the past two elections, either. I also pointed out that the president wasn’t all that qualified in the job department when considering his prior job experience.

After all, when all you have for a job recommendation for the highest office in the land is having been a community organizer, and junior senator in one of the most corrupt and bankrupt states in the country, that isn’t saying much.

I proceeded to explain to this person that Trump’s strategy is to continue building a large lead in the polls; then, call a news conference to announce he’s withdrawing from the race.

The only reason Trump entered in the first place, he explains, was to set the tone of the dialog. He recommends his followers get behind Sen. Ted Cruz.

Sen. Cruz breezes through the Republican primaries, defeats Hillary in the general election, and is now our new United States president. Wahoo.

Let me tell you why you deserve no respect as a poster. First, you hide behind a scree name and hurl insults. That’s as cowardly as you can get, and I don’t respect cowards.

Second, you chime in with just little snipes, and never engage in any intellectual debate. That’s not only cowardly, it’s shallow and infantile. You are oh for respect dude.

You ( a candidate ) gain respect, and adoration not by appealing to the mushy middle as a moderate, but sticking to your long held pricibles and conviction therefore setting a example for another to be persuaded and to follow.

John McCain and Mitt Romney perhaps lost more base conservatives BECAUSE they were trying to appeal to the moderate and mushy middle than what they actually gained by trying to appeal to the moderates as a full spectrum candidate.

Indeed, and I've written many many columns about just this and it's also a major theme in my latest book. It cannot be said often enough....

You shame yourself more than my indifference to you ever could. Your “respect” is of zero value.

and you’re obsessed with me, posting about another poster, instead of ideas, which I can only assume are over your head - which is why you post about posters. Think about how foolish that is.

Well let's see. A: WRONGO - your post #125 was to me, and it was an asshole snark, and it was our first interaction, and B: it was of course about ME, not about the topic, and C: your Nancy dig, besides being pathetic, is proof you know you're getting your rear end handed to you intellectually - which you are by the way. But let me reiterate...this post is just totally wrong.

How did I know it? Because I NEVER start it. Ever. But I do respond. Almost always.

Reminds me of:

RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.

RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new.

your understanding of election history, EVEN LAST CYCLE, is breathtakingly non existent.

Because as we know, the leaders at this stage last time around...Bachmann Perry and Cain...all were major players......LOL

So after having an even bigger share of the vote in LATE AUGUST - than Trump has in late July, Perry was fizzling by Iowa with 10% and then just tanked at less than ONE in NH. Meanwhile, Newt went from 0 in August to 30 in December back to nothing in Iowa and NH then to 43!!!!! in SC. Yeah, these polls today are SOOOOO definitive. LOL

Not that I’d put much stock in a Rueters poll, but that means that if Trump or Rubio or anyone else was out, Cruz would be in. I bet the establishment would prefer Trump be in the debates rather than Cruz. They’ve been trying to limit Cruz’s visibility from the getgo and Trump has certainly made that happen.

I said the same thing here on FR in the very beginning. He’s breaking trail for Cruz and taking the heat. It will make Cruz look more moderate to the imbecile voters.

Actually, I would have to disagree, Ted Cruz sees the big picture and is taking his time building grassroots support in each and every state as he can.

Like a slow cooker, it takes time to cook good food.

It will pay benefits in the long run and Ted Cruz will rise in the polls and over all support.

To a certain extent a full spectrum candidate would look good on the outside, or on the surface, however ?

John McCain and Mitt Romney lost more base conservatives support and vote doing just that, appealing to the mushy middle, Reagan never did that.

You ( a candidate ) gain more respect, adoration by sticting to your guns by sticking to your values, and principles and persuading others to follow, that’s how Reagan won the Reagan Democrats, not by appealing to the mushy middle, but by sticking to his convictions.

That’s how John McCain and Mitt Romney lost the conservative base, they wanted to be Mr. nice guy, Mr. Friendly by reaching across the aisle.

The problem with that is it doesn’t always work and you lose respect.

McCain and Romney perhaps lost more conservatives than what they actually gained by appealing to the middle.

Of course both of them were never true “ Conservatives “ in the first place in which turned off more conservative voters.

If Ted Cruz sticks to his convictions no matter how hard the trade winds blow and tell him to change course, he will win the moderates and persaude them just like Reagan did.
