Ted Cruz rains praise on Donald Trump

Sen. Ted Cruz rained praise on primary rival Donald Trump Sunday, making a point to contrast himself with the many 2016 Republican presidential contenders who have been sharply critical of the real estate mogul.

“Quite a few members of this field have attacked Donald Trump. A lot of folks in the media have asked me ‘Ted Cruz, will you do the same?’ I have been glad to praise Donald Trump for speaking out boldly and brashly and for focusing on illegal immigration,” Cruz said in an interview with POLITICO’s Mike Allen at the Koch brothers-funded Freedom Partners summer conference in Dana Point, California.

Cruz added that there was a reason for his reticence to criticize Trump, referring to late President Ronald Reagan’s “11th Commandment” against attacking other Republicans.

Trump is 6’3”. Cruz is smaller than I thought.

If Donald gets the nomination and Cruz becomes VP, Donald will give Ted the hookup from the Donald J Trump Collection. Nothing but the best.

I also read it in the past month or so. He seems to be pretty consistent on the issues since the book was written.

MAN made global warming pushers never answer my simple question...what caused the powerful global warming to end the last age? During the last ice age several miles thick ice glaciers covered upper mid-west.

Then a powerful global warming came around and melted all that ice, forming the largest body of fresh water on earth...the Great Lakes. The cave man could’nt possibly have burned so many twigs to cause man made global warming.

Someone here said Cruz had to borrow a coat and tie from Trump.

I’ve seen video of him, from 1988, saying the same things. He’s not changed in his concern for our huge deficits and love for country.

Good of you to read Trump’s book, so you can make intelligent comments about his true agenda.

I am planning to order the revised edition coming out next Thursday, on Amazon.

Yeeesss. Cruz has a wiser, calmer way of saying things and would be great mouthpiece for the administration. He will make a positive, constructive leader. We really need Cruz up there with Trump.

I definitely believe Cruz is shooting for VP under Trump at this point.

Yep, and I think that strategy shows his brilliance.

This is Ted's first presidential rodeo, after having only been on the national stage a mere three years. That's not really long enough to have cemented a resume' of the type Americans normally look for in a future president.

Only low info Democrats would elect someone to the office with that, or even less experience. < wink >

However, eight years as VP would certainly put Ted in the best possible position to become President in 2024.

Doesn’t Ted’s suit look too big for him?

Yeah, it looks like he borrowed a jacket from someone for a quick photo.

Me too. I’m wondering if the revised edition will highlight a few “see, I told you so’s!” ;-)

He’s known, alerted and offered common sense solutions to our problems, for a while, now. I think that’s one of the things Sarah admires about Trump. He calls it like it is, and isn’t afraid to enter the fray to heighten awareness and get problems fixed. (And, likewise, why he admires her...she did just that, in Alaska.)

As it stands now Trump and Cruz will bookend Bush in the debates.

Just saw the clip when Trump told Larry King he had bad breathe. What had not been included in the discussion of the clip when reported by the media was Trump’s next action. He adjusted his chair to directly face King and said “that’s how you get advantage over opponents !

Wonder what Cruz and Trump can pull on Bush. Watch the body language. Will they turn their backs on him when he speaks? Glare at him?

I wish the candidates would blow their race to the White House wide open with an attack not on each other, but an attack on Hillary Clinton. There is a huge mass of material to use against her, starting with “Filegate.” The August 6th debate should be a shooting gallery that blasts Hillary out of the water. I have never seen a politician skate through the political landscape as easy as she does. The Lamestream Media would have a cow if the candidates failed to do a shoot down on Trump and, instead, turned their guns on Hillary. That would be an incredible thing to watch.

His Ivy League education is a plus, imho. It’s some of the political decisions he’s made that kill it for me. And the big donors.
