Knowing Trump, he likely WILL refuse the restrictions of the presidency ...and yet will do just fine.

Yes, he’s liberal probably on abortion, amongst other things. No president is able to fix it all in four years. But if we don’t fix this 19 trillion dollar debt, or this economy .. And if we don’t stop this cancer called illegal immigration, these hard core social issues aren’t going to assume much bearing in our lives anyway ....

Lets preserve the constitutional republic yet another day, shall we? At that point, we can continue to fight the good fights.

sorry, 2nddiv. basic logic disqualifies him. his own reasoning of why he’s a natural born citizen of the US would also make him a natural born citizen of cuba, canada, and maybe britain.

you just cannot be a natural born citizen of multiple countries. if you could, there would be no reason to use the language in the Constitution. additionally, multiple citizenship would allow for a foreign king to become president... one of the main issues the founders wanted to insure could never happen.

if you really believe he’s eligible... then push him to address it BEFORE the convention. settle it.

because if you don’t, and he’s not and becomes the nominee... then it’s a perfect democrat trap allowing them an easy victory

No doubt the MSM would love ANY GOP candidate other than Trump, since they could easily be dismantled through the standard assault of a thousands cuts and smears when the time came, followed by an October 2016 coup de Grace to finish the deed.

Then Hillary and the establishment will sail to miserable victory...

So it’s very important to gently lead people towards Cruz and Carson... and portray the fearless Trump as “less pure” to turn off the suicidally pure Conservative dupes for Hillary.

A lot of us, including Cruz, have been aware of this from the git-go. I get the sense that Cruz is the only one that Trump would be good with if things continue as they are and that corner gets rounded.

if Trump holds on until the convention. If he keeps 20 or 25 percent of the delegates, he will have enough to deny everyone else the nomination and then be in the position to be king maker...... (and Cruz would be the likely recipient)

Works for me!!! However, this article underestimates Trump. I think he's going all the way. Hopefully Cruz gets a seat on the SCOTUS.

Yes, the cure for the sickness of liberalism on our society will require a cultural and attitudinal change. The change must take hold and shift our priorities over decades, not a four or eight year presidency.

California was lost not overnight but over the last 3 decades. We start the change now or go the way of California.

Me not trusty cross over voters in the general.

The cross over voters will perform operation chaos on Donald Trump in the primaries like Rush Limbaugh had during 2008 on Hillary.

Then when the general election comes down the pike ? They vote for Bernie.

So ? So what.

So did my mom a life long FDR Democrat who voted for McCain instead of Obama in 2008.

And if Hillary would have been the DNC nominee in 2012 I am sure my mom she would have voted for Hillary than Romney, this does not prove anything.

If you fail to grasp the gravity of that situation, you must be very young or a political neophyte.

The obvious denouement is Trump is attracting people from a broad cross-section of voters.

I am very aware of the gravity of the situation and that’s why I support Ted Cruz thank you.

Been in this political arena close to 30 years thank you.

Most of those on the left that Trump is attracting will say they support him , and might actually vote for him in the primaries, but they will lock step vote for Bernie or O’Malley in the general election, you can bank on that.

John McCain and Mitt Romney lost more of the base conservatives by being the mushy middle liberal GOPe candidates than what they ever attracted by appealing to moderates, independents, and Reagan Democrats.

Most of the conservative evangelical base stayed home in the last 2 election cycles.

Donald Trump is perfectly groomed for chairman of the FED and or the Commence Department.

Just what are those non - constitutional issues ?

And how so ? Is Ted Cruz arrogant ( in your own eyes ) about those issues ?

RE:” If and when Trump leaves the race, every possibility exists that his followers would transfer their allegiance to Cruz. Cruz, unlike many of the other Republican candidates, has steadfastly refused to criticize Trump, the theory being that once Trump does realize that the show is over and Cruz presumably rises to first place, Trump will not try to seek revenge. “

This one’s been around for at least a few weeks now.

Someone gave me another version of this, that Cruz cant beat Bush but Trump can.

Of course it could go the other way, that if and when Trump goes down he takes Cruz with him.

I think that Cruz is a lifelong advocate and student of the Constitution. He is not such on employment or economic issues. His career is an admirable application of his legal expertise to various assignments his employment required of him in Texas. Now he is doing the same good job on legal issues as a first term senator.

There is nothing wrong with not being real knowledgeable about other non-legal issues. However I have not seen one budge or one public appeal for consultaion on those issues. He keeps banging his head on corporatist mantras about what is good about increases in legal immigrants to a fragile economy. Arragant or ignorant? Or?
