Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on Monday challenged Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) to take a stand against Donald Trump's proposal to ban Muslim immigrants from entering the United States.
When asked if he would support such a ban on Monday, Cruz replied, "No, that is not my policy," but did not criticize Trump, according to the Texas Tribune.
"I believe the focus should focus on radical Islamic terrorism, and we need to be directly focused on threats to the United States," he continued. "We need a commander in chief that perceives what the threat is and that targets all of our resources to protecting this nation against radical Islamic terrorism."
A reporter then asked Cruz if he was concerned about anti-Muslim rhetoric in the U.S., according to the Texas Tribune.
"I don't believe most Americans are using language against Muslim Americans," Cruz responded. "We're using language against radical Islamic terrorists."
In an interview with The Guardian Monday, Graham condemned Trump's proposal and called out Cruz by name for not clearly denouncing the real estate mogul's comments.
"Donald Trump today took xenophobia and religious bigotry to a new level," Graham said. "It is time for Ted Cruz to quit hiding in the weeds and speak out against Donald Trump's xenophobia and racial bigotry."
Many Republicans were quick to condemn Trump's plan. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush called Trump "unhinged," and Ohio Gov. John Kasich criticized Trump's "outrageous divisiveness."

Cruz is careful to not say stuff that he feels that he must deny later, unlike Trump.

So I guess that Trump not only doesn’t “want to hear about the First Amendment (at least when mentioned as an impediment on him shutting down the Internet), he doesn’t want to hear about the Tenth Amendment (federalism), or even Article I (which vests Congress with the federal legislative power). Not even Democrats say things this stupid. Okay, some Democrats do (like Obama), but these are things that he should have learned in sixth-grade civics class.
A bunch of months back I posted a comment on a Trump thread to a Trumpista that went like
:”What you love about Trump is what will ultimately betray you, his un-predictablity.”
The statement above by him is so ridiculous that I cant put in the effort you did to debate against it.
But I do love him making fun of Grahamnesty and a few others. He is a great entertainer. He makes me laugh many times.
Right now not seeing a positive outcome of all this.
Trump is the political equivalent of a banner ad promising free sex.
2020, long wait. We must get a strong candidate next time, ideally a member of the House delegation or a statewide official. He will not be taken out by 3rd or 4th tier detritus. People often ask “How did win?”, he won at the filing deadline cause only losers and democrats stood against him, it would be a shame if he’s let off the hook again.

President Cruz should think long and hard before he appoints Graham to anything involving foreign policy, even to get rid of him. I think Graham is mentally unhinged and bloodthirsty.
By the time Cruz becomes President (Jan 2025), Linda will be a distant unpleasant memory. He’ll be in a nervous hospital after having tried to stab President Trump with his flaccid pecker during a State of the Union speech.
