Free Republic Straw Poll (January 2016 edition)
January 3, 2016 | 2ndDivisionVet

Posted on 01/03/2016 2:58:47 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

If you had to vote in your state primary/caucus today, knowing what you know now about the various declared and probable candidates, who would you vote for? Why? Who would you like to see as the running mate for your preferred candidate? If you could help staff your candidates cabinet and other top appointments, who would you choose? If you could recommend different congressional leaders than we have now, who would they be? And who would you like to see on the Supreme Court and why? And finally, feel free to donate to Free Republic.

To care so little that he's offending a massive portion of the population (immigrants) is a danger sign, IMO.

In view that he directed his remarks to ILLEGAL immigrants and objected to Democrat-engineered Islamization by flooding our country with UNDOCUMENTED muslim "refugees" (who are actually civilizational jihadists), it's people who think the way you do who are the danger.

Legal immigrants agree with his position. Straighten out your thinking, before it's too late.

Cruz. Because he has a lifelong dedication to the Constitution and will not be afraid to defend it and America without reservation.

Unfortunately the Cruz supporters are going to start another fire like what happened in 2008 and many will end up being banned or suspended.

We DO need each other but it sure seems that folks so ideologically aligned refuse to see the light so we all can win.

Tomorrow is another day and hopefully cooler heads will prevail.

Sen. Cruz because he is a proven conservative and he believes in the constitution.

Hundreds of thousands of Americans fit that description. It doesn't make a person able to win an election against a Democrat with a powerful machine and the entire media behind them. That's why Trump is the better choice, because if we don't win this one, there will be nothing left for conservatives or the constitution ever again.

Don't let the perfect drive out the good. We must win this one. Cruz cannot win the general.

Yes, I know you are. :^)

Look, I like BOTH Cruz and Trump, and I want to be fair to both of them. And it’s VERY unfair of you to try to give credit to Cruz for being the Seven Mountains Dominionism’s ANOINTED ONE when it is actually Donald Trump who has received that anointing “for the mantle of government”.

First Trump. Second choice Cruz. I’ll be most happy with either one. Just want the Muslim out so I can sleep again.

"We have a brokered convention...GOPE insists Trump carry Rubio as the VP slot to get the nomination!!!"

I seriously doubt the GOPE is going to dictate anything to Trump. If and when the GOPE tries to pull off a brokered convention, Trump will be two steps ahead of them and beat them at their own game.

Trump.

With his wealth he is the only candidate that won’t be turned into a puppet tomorrow (in policy and political correctness) to the oligarchs, NYC & Hollywood MSM, and bankers that have been so destructive to the USA. They have an endless quest for liberalism, gun control, more refugees, immigrants and ever cheaper labor at the expense of America.

Their only goal is to take down Trump and then make his successor their private lapdog.

Trump or Cruz. Because either a bulldozer or a Constitutional surgeon could destroy the cancer that is liberalism and political correctness. In fact it would be a beauty thing to see the two work in concert.

Given that Trump would never accept the Second Banana position, there is only one logical person to support in the primaries -- Trump. He has given every indication that he wants Cruz as his right hand in some vital capacity. Cruz could then follow Trump for another 8 years. But if we elect Cruz now, we don't get half of what Trump has to offer -- we may not get much at all. He can retire to Scotland where he has large holdings.

Plus, Cruz is too openly evangelical to win the general at this time with our dumbed-down and debauched nation, which is in need of the Twelve Steps to break its addiction to selfish, sensual, narcissistic stupid, short-term and anti-religious impulses.

Donald has done a terrible job pandering to the religious right. All Trump could do was drag a bible to a speech and waive it around a few times and claim he's a Presbyterian.

My boy Cruz, on the other hand, has done a much better job by sitting down with all the TV evangelist types and using his family as props in campaign vidoes. Cruz is by far the best panderer going.

That's why he's got my vote. There's no quicker way to the White House than making sure your depicted as being on the religious right.

I don't understand how they figure Cruz would get any crossover votes without which a Republican candidate can not win...
