Why Ted Cruz is more likely to pull an upset than Bernie Sanders
The Washington Post's The Fix ^ | March 22, 2016 | Phillip Bump

Posted on 03/22/2016 4:40:21 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

As it stands, the two people most likely to accept their parties' nominations at this summer's national conventions are Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Each has a sizable lead in delegates; each, we are assured by their opponents, will somehow end up losing.

Those opponents, Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders*, are hardly objective observers of the situation of course, any more than was Marco Rubio, whose last-minute insistence that he would win Florida was heartbreaking in the manner of an afterschool special. ("You'll get 'em next time, Tiger," we all sniffed. "You'll get 'em next time.") But it's an interesting question: How likely is it that one or both of them will end up toppling their party's presumed front-runners?

It's impossible to answer this with certainty, of course, because if we could, we'd know precisely how the next several months are going to play out. But we'll give you our answer up-front: In our estimation, it is more likely that Ted Cruz will be the Republican nominee than it is that Bernie Sanders will be the Democratic one.

* There's another guy running, too. Fella from Ohio? He literally can't win enough delegates to be the nominee, so we'll skip him in this analysis....

Agreed, but what gets me is how he seems to really believe it himself as if his ego is getting in the way of common sense.
I actually wanted cruz to start with , but like you said the more I saw him the more I was turning away.

As for UT, the media are trying to telling us that this is down to religious beliefs, but with Romney and Mormon leaders all telling their people to vote for cruz is more to the truth.

cruz has only won 3 primary election states and even after tonight he will probably be stuck on three and that was his own state with less than 50% and a neighboring state OK.

I am stunned that still today there are people supporting a guy who has no clear path to the nomination. It is just over and some can’t get it.

Actually it’s Kasich that should be out. Then it would be a neck to neck race. Thing is, more dems are voting for DT.

I too like 2DV. And he lives in Texas, of course he’s for Cruz. Not paid, just passionate. For the wrong guy, but hey, it’s a free country.

And I say that even after he’s gone from thread to thread accusing me of being a paid Trump shill from Mumbai. I forgive him the rage of backing a failing candidate. :D

Cruz sold his soul and went Romney.
That’s too bad, but after November when all the books are being written, nobody but Trump will come out of it lookign good.
This is the end of the RNC for sure.

The nomination is still open.

We’ve gone through two Super Tuesdays and about fifty Republican debates, yet Donald Trump has still failed to close the deal.

That’s why we’re talking about Ted Cruz.

If Donald Trump can’t rise above his current 40% in the polls, and Ted Cruz and John Kasich together can win a majority of the convention delegates — their combined polling numbers currently add up to 48% — they can combine forces at the convention, and one of the two can win the nomination while the other can be chosen as the vice-presidential candidate.

If that happens, the Republicans would have a winning ticket of Cruz and Kasich — both of whom are beating Hillary in head-to-head competitions, one of whom has the best chance of delivering the must-win state of Ohio in the general election, and neither of whom suffers from the serious Donald Trumpian handicap of having a 65% disapproval rating.

That’s the Republicans’ winning formula.

Never again would the Clintons be continually in our faces. Never again would we have to cringe to embarrassing outbursts by Donald Trump such as his attack on Brussels as a ‘’hell-hole’’ following ISIS’s deadly attack on the city when the Belgians need our support not our schoolyard taunts.

It would be so easy to be a civilized country again.

Cruz/Kasich 2016. Why can’t we do it?

You mean to say you’re not really a paid Trump shill from Mumbai?

:-)

Actually, I like 2DV a lot too. He’s always posted lots of threads for his favorite candidate.

The good news : sometime in the very near future his candidate will have lost and will quit the race.

Vote Trump!

They seem to have the same insecurity of their idol.

Seems like you have some "idol" issues of your own.

Projection doesn't look good on you.

Yeah. I’m a liberal. Voted for Trump. No conservatives voted for Trump, of course. Jen Bush told me so. Real conservatives do not have the ability to think for themselves, they are only able to vote for who their master’s tell them the real conservative is. Only they have passed the purity test. Nothing else matters.

That about it?

So well stated FRiend.
I thought Ted would wake up and denounce idiots like Beck.
At first I thought it was a fluke or people editing his comments. But he’s doubled down on the rhetoric.

It’s like watching a slow motion wreck. He can’t even get out of his own way. His comments the last 24 hours make me want Trump to NOT put Ted anywhere in a Trump administration. .

“Cruz/Kasich 2016. Why can’t we do it?”

Because many of us do not want to have President Hillary Clinton for the next 8 years.

Ted is staying in the race for one reason only and its to try and deny Trump from getting to 1237.

If that's true, then I hope he succeeds.
