Donald Trump’s terrible night in Colorado exemplifies his campaign’s Achilles’ heel
The Washington Post's The Fix ^ | April 8, 2016 | Philip Bump

Posted on 04/09/2016 2:48:56 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

The assumption for months was that everything would fall into place. That there was no need to really dig in, that the outcome was obvious. And then, too late, it became clear that this optimism was unfounded. Or maybe not too late, but late enough in the process to mean that folks would have to scramble. And now everything is up in the air.

The paragraph above describes the Republican establishment’s attitude about Donald Trump’s candidacy, obviously. But it also describes Trump’s push for the nomination itself.

From the moment he stepped onto that escalator on Trump Tower until about a month ago, Trump’s assumption was that he could power his way to the nomination through sheer force of will. That the scene when he strolled through the Iowa State Fair, pulling people into a tight cluster around him as he moved through the crowd, would work at an electoral level as well. And, despite the skepticism of the establishment (and myself), it nearly did. With remarkably little effort beyond bopping around the country in his private jet, Trump vaulted into the lead and stayed there.

But that strategy has hit its limit, thanks mostly to Ted Cruz’s dogged campaign efforts....

Oops, Freepers. Darn autocorrect.

Well for some it is appropriate.

"Yea, I like some of what Trump says too but I don’t trust him because of his recent liberal past and monetary support of liberals. Spare me the “it was business” BS. He has no principles. Cruz on the other hand I trust based on his commitment to the Constitution and his past actions and his principles. Ted never gave money to liberals just like I haven’t. It is an easy choice for me.(!)"

Note the sign-on date of the one claiming there’s a
“Cruz troll army” if you will.

There is nothing LS said, that deserves the ad hominem
you Cruz-cultists send out WITHOUT A THOUGHT.

The GOPe DOES support Cruz.
And that has nothing to do with cultism, viciousness,
endless false accusations, of those who attempt
to push their CanadianCuban globalist, who already
has been exposed to have used BLACKMAIL (and the behavior
of Fiorina acting as Cruz’s “wife” confirms it).

"Oh, knock it off. No one here is on anyone’s payroll.

It's a shame you're not getting paid. You do more for Cruz than anyone I can think of...there are people doing a lot less and being paid a lot more.

Cruz looks too much like Peewee Herman to me, but....that just may be "you're cup of tea"

The only thing he has in common with Paul Reubens is white skin and dark hair.

Trump’s recent Liberal history - been Republican since the 80s.

Trumps donation history is way more to GOP then Dems including to Cruz.

The reason so many good smart conservatives back Trump is because they are faster on the learner curve about Trump and Cruz and can discern GOPe/Democrat disinformation from reality.

Make no mistake Ted Cruz is being used by the GOPe to defeat Donald Trump. Once his usefulness is over they will discard him like a piece of trash.

“I’m helping fund Ted Cruz. So, you are saying I am GOPe, you lying piece of shit?”

More like helping to nominate Paul Ryan.

They don’t even have a presidential straw poll after the national Republican Party required a binding vote. Colorado party leaders maybe wanted to remain uncommitted to a candidate maybe because they worried that person may not remain in the race by the July convention ?? This is really awful. I’d be surprised if they don’t go back to a presidential primary system by 2020.

See this for explanation of Colorado, another Trump stumble and bumble. Lookin’ more and more like Trump is something of a rube; a bumbler.

You could say he went of half-cocked, and you also say he does have small hands.

... The entire Cruz campaign is now sold out, to the GOPe.

Proof? Other than from a Trump propaganda blog?

Sure this looks good for Ted. I dont mind if all the Cruz fans has a few bright moments to cheer for....
==

It’s Cruz, his GoPe cronies, MSM, and the Dem party working together to defeat the leading Republican candidate and elect Hillary. No other explanation for their action.

This race was over for Cruz after FL and OH primary. And any chance he had after that was thru a VP pick this year, and run in 8 years. He and the GoPe have blown that.

In other words, GoPe gets what they want, Hillary gets what she wants, MSM picks our candidate again, Trump goes back to his billions, and Cruz goes home to Texas, having ended any chance he will ever have as a national candidate, and we lose any chance we will ever have to turn back this collectivist wave rolling over our country,

Thank you Cruz voters.

CNN—I wondered what happened to you!!!!

When Trump talks about righting the trade imbalances, I think of you often—you were sounding that call so long ago and so consistently.

You were right!!!!

Good to see you again!

How silly and stupid are you? Of course, the GOPe backs Cruz - they want to stop Trump. They want the gravy train to continue. However, I don’t expect you to grasp that fact, since most Cruzbots are ignorant and naive in politics. And, for the record, Cruz is and always has been establishment. He and the Bushes go back a long way. Do your homework and educate yourself. There is no excuse for ignroance in this day and age of computers.

I'd have trouble telling them apart unless the lighting is good....and I am far from the ONLY one to notice this.

Bingo!

Slowly yall are understanding. Constitution says votes are sealed not changed.

Ted Cruz should be arrested for fraud.

Ted Cruz is Constitutional illiterate.
