Trump Losing Delegates in State After State Through Incompetence
Patterico's Pontifications ^ | April 11, 2016 | Patterico

Tsk, tsk.

Donald Trump’s effort to reset his campaign following defeat in Wisconsin showed no signs of paying off this weekend, as a series of technical failures by his campaign set his hopes back even further.

From Thursday to Saturday, Trump suffered setbacks in Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, South Carolina and Indiana that raise new doubts about his campaign’s preparedness for the long slog of delegate hunting as the GOP race approaches a possible contested convention. He lost the battle on two fronts. Cruz picked up 28 pledged delegates in Colorado. In the other states, rival campaigns were able to place dozens of their own loyalists in delegate spots pledged to Trump on the first ballot. This will matter if Trump fails to win a majority of delegates on the first ballot in Cleveland, as his delegates defect once party rules allow them to choose the candidate they want to nominate.

Trump’s campaign mounted a haphazard campaign for delegates in Colorado, where hundreds ran to be at large representatives in Cleveland at the state convention in Colorado Springs. The frontrunner’s advisers repeatedly instructed supporters to vote for the wrong candidates—distributing the incorrect delegate numbers to supporters. Cruz, who traveled to address the convention, swept the state’s 34 delegates on the back of a disciplined organizing effort, that included text message and video displays advertising his preferred slate.

This is a very distressing development, and I think my sentiments can best be summed up in video form.

According to Cruz, Cruz supporters, GOPe and the Uniparty, yes, political corruption is a good thing.

‘losing’ delegates due to bribes and insider deals is not incompetence.
it’s corruption.

we use to have a chant: no taxation without representation

then we shot people to drive the point home.

Cruz is sold out to the GOPe, and is becoming a big problem.

Just my opinion. But I am becoming more and more convinced, the support of Cruz here on this site, and in closed party votes across America, is extremely damaging to American democracy.

You are wrong. Just my opinion once again, but I am becoming ever more convinced of that.

Absolutely and the Democrats absolutely love the idea that Trump has no ground game. It is getting very late to start one if he is the nominee...

Trump is using the bomb the Colorado GOP gave him to blow the corruption there sky high. I think Trump planned it that way. He knew the GOP elitist rules in Colorado. A good warrior chooses the battle - and when it’s not winnable you do an end run. That is what Trump is doing and it’s working perfectly. Look what’s happening on twitter, on facebook, here, on Drudge, and in the pressers.

Ted will wish he had never seen Colorado before this is over.

What kind of crap blog is that? You have to dig that deep?

You’re just antagonizing people that will surely offer your GOPe candidate the middle finger after all this BS.

It actually hurts him big time...He has shown in state after state that he has no ground game. The Democrats love that...

Hasn’t Patterico always been a RINO blog, even before this Trump/Cruz debacle?

Trumps incompetence is not corruption. Trumps incompetence is not cheating.

This was all out there for everyone to see. Four years ago this same thing was done by Romney. Trump didnt learn from this but Cruz did.

I learned as well and became a delegate along with everyone that I could get. If you want to make a difference you become a delegate. If not you bitch about being cheated and how it was rigged. In other words you become some of the Trump supporters here who will not do anything more than vote once and bitch.

If you Trump supporters want to make a difference get involved now for the next election. Sure it will take some time and coordination but your vote will count. After all you say you have the majority so use it and stop complaining.

You’re acting like a sore loser.

Either candidate is much better than Hillary or Bernie. Both are performing well; let’s support them, not tear them down.

It looks like the greater danger is his supporters overestimating him...

It’s not hurting him at all. Just watch.

Colorado was a bed built for Jeb, Cruz just happened to fall into it - wildly fornicating and fluffling every establishment elitist he can get close to. The exact same thing happened on Wisconsin.

Yes. The “only principled candidate in the race” has left the race never to return, “A Time For Truth” has defaulted to “A Time For Status Quo Gutter Politics”.

I’d like a refund on my copy of the book.
