I’m sorry—I badly underestimated Trump’s appeal to voters
Newsweek ^ | 6/5/16 | Lloyd Gruber

As a political scientist, I feel I owe you an apology. To say my discipline has been behind the curve this electoral season would be putting it too charitably. We haven’t missed one curve yet. We’re speeding through all of them—backwards.

At the beginning of this year’s U.S. presidential campaign, we confidently assured you that the Trump phenomenon wouldn’t last, that the Republican base was just having a little summer fling. We told you we knew how presidential primaries worked. We’d studied them for years, knew the incentives, the structural dynamics, the statistical patterns. Been there, analysed that.

Another perfect example of the disconnect between the ivory tower elites and the grass roots of America. Shame on them.

I liked him from his first “Apprentice” and first time hosting SNL. Might explain his vast appeal?

“Former Arizona Governor Mike Huckabe”

Is it even worth reading the rest of the article after a mistake like that?

Journos and academics live in a social and philosophical bubble. They do pretty much act to make sure outlanders don’t join their club, so their bubble remains pure.

They talk about normal people the way anthropologists talk about Amazonian tribesmen. They have no clue.

The term “political scientist” is one of N oxymorons associated with marshmallow university degrees.

And N is a very large number.

These people probably go for years without ever meeting or talking to a "regular" person. They hang out in their elite country clubs with each other, fly first class (or private jets), send the help to do the marketing, etc.

Our governing elite, and their media enablers and hangers-on, have all become totally out of touch with reality.

This article basically says “I’m sorry that my shallow and superficial and self-appointed intellectual approach produced such atrociously incorrect conclusions and predictions, but please allow me to again utilize my shallow and superficial approach to once again make predictions that I am sure you, the reader, will find valuable and insightful”.

ESAD. And ask me if I care, OK?

From the linked article: "The fact that Hillary is a woman – that fact alone – should have galvanized support for her campaign. "

Let me see if I got this right. If Margaret Thatcher or Sarah Palin were running, the author would be a supporter against, say, Biden? Or Kerry?

Somehow I think not.

The Ministry of Propaganda has failed miserably to convince us to give up our country without a fight and now that we finally have a champion they are ticked off about it.

They know exatly what Trump’s appeal is, he has promised to restore the rule of law and help us keep our country.

The multi-national politicians have been trying to give it away for decades.

“I’m sorry”

That’s ok. I’m not sure anyone was listening.

That makes 1760th pundit who guessed it wrong.

But then he doubles down on stupid. He calls Hillary a trudger. She's anything but. She's a highly talented extortionist and traitor to her country. No one with the real goods is ever left alive to tell the tale.
