John Bel Edwards Eats His Words When Trump Shows Up To LA With No Press And Supplies For Victims
The Louisiana Hayride ^ | August 19, 2016 | John Binder

Gov. John Bel Edwards was forced to eat his own words when GOP nominee Donald Trump showed up in Baton Rouge today to donate and hand-out supplies for Louisiana flooding victims.

Edwards’ spokesperson was silent on President Obama and Hillary Clinton’s failure to visit the state in the wake of the flooding crisis.

But, the spokesperson took a swipe at Trump, saying he didn’t want him to show up with cameras and not actually help victims.

“Donald Trump hasn’t called the governor to inform him of his visit,” Edwards’ spokesman said. “We welcome him to LA but not for a photo-op. Instead we hope he’ll consider volunteering or making a sizable donation to the LA Flood Relief Fund to help the victims of the storm.”

However, Trump didn’t show up with the media and he came with a truck full of goods for victims.

Take a look:

“We welcome him to LA but not for a photo-op. “

That is almost exactly what the then democrat governor of Louisiana said about Bush visiting as hurricane Katrina was winding down.

thanks for the post and link. Highly, highly recommend reading the story at the link, especially the last paragraph to the effect: Not a single member of the House took Crockett up on his suggestion to give to the cause out of his own pocket. Because, he said, members of Congress treat other people’s money as trash even as they strive after money for themselves, even to the point of sacrificing honor and principle.

It’s cheaper than a commercial that most people don’t watch anyway. “Git ‘er done” Do something that makes a difference.

They’ll get the message, Hillary is full of empty promises.

“If I were Trump....every forest fire...every hurricane...for the rest of the campaign season....”

Bingo! Trump has the energy to do it too unlike Hillary. In LA Trump was acting like he was already the president - by bringing help to people. That’s not a bad thing.

I don’t know...isn’t “Hand Out” a verb here?

:)

He needs to go to California, to the wild fires area. Imagine numerous stops in California.

Imagine Nancy Pelosi claiming that Trump is starting the fires as a campaign ploy.

Daniel Boone, Davey Crockett. You can be forgiven for mixing them up, they both looked like Fess Parker.

“...Edwards successfully harnessed the teachers’ union and other assorted
government deadheads, and turned their hatred of Jindal to his favor.”

Some of those “deadheads” expressing their hatred of Jindal were here on FR. Jindal purportedly cut nearly 30% of do-nothing bureaucrats, while turbo-charging the post-Katrina recovery effort and private industry—especially offshore oil, refineries, shipyards, and related industries-— while placing a 5 year lifetime limit on welfare benefits.

Jindal was trying to Make Louisiana Great Again.

What Jindal was doing in LA was essentially a micro-blueprint for what Trump needs to do in the US. And it’s also a harbinger of the type of vicious resistance and outright sabotage Trump will face from Democrats and RINOS.

At the beginning of his second term in 2011, Jindal went after the teacher’s union - tenure, performance scores, school rankings - the whole shebang.

Unfortunately, he only was partly successful, and they counterattacked for the rest of his term.

“Hand out” is a verb phrase.

“Hand-out” is a noun.
