Axelrod: Trump "Forcing" Democrats To Embrace AOC's Squad, Accept They Run The Party
RCP Video ^ | 7-18-2019 | Ian Schwartz

Posted on 07/18/2019 5:13:09 AM PDT by Sir Napsalot

CNN contributor, Democratic operative, and former Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod called President Trump a "self-hating America hater" in reaction to his treatment of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and the three other progressive freshmen in the House. ...

"He thinks that he is going to influence these suburban voters by persuading them that the Democratic party is too far left. But in going as far as he's gone and he will go he may persuade them that we can't take four more years of this," Axelrod said.

(snip)

"He wants to elevate these four young members of Congress to make them the emblem of the Democratic party and he wants to be so outrageous about it that he forces all Democrats to embrace them, to support the argument that they are the iconic figures in the party and in the bargain, he riles up his base with nativist language," Axelrod said to host Anderson Cooper. "The irony, Peter Baker wrote a great piece in the 'Times' today about how ironic it is that the president who was deeply critical of the country even in his inaugural address and who said we're not any different than Russia in the way we approach human rights."

"Apparently, he's like a self-hating America hater," Axelrod quipped. "Now he's attacking people for saying there are things wrong in our country that need to be addressed. But I just have to take a step back as a strategist and say I recognize what he's doing and a lot of what he does is intuitive, it's not mapped out. But it's worked for him and he thinks this will work for him."

Ha ha ha, this is great, "Astroturf" Axelrod is pissed.

>>> ... he forces all Democrats to embrace them, to support the argument that they are the iconic figures in the party

This is the 'great Axelrod' saying Democrats themselves are dumb. Trump easily manipulate them on his twittering fingers. All Democrats have to do is not responding to Trump's pokes. Media going overdrive to paint the Narrative that Trump's tweet was racist, to no avail. All Democrats need to do is to show that they are not the crazies, but they all responded in the predictable way.

This is going to be a FUN one year and a half till Nov 2020.

” But I just have to take a step back as a strategist and say I recognize what he’s doing...”

That’s all you need to read.

People vote their pocketbook. Most people do not care about anything but if they have a job and can pay their bills.

Trump is not the reason the Dems are rallying around those four. It is the reality that the Democrat party is beholden to its more progressive elements, and cannot afford to alienate them. Trump is just exposing that reality to voters.

Svengali’s like Axelrod and Karl Rove are swept up in their own importance and brilliance, thinking that they are masters of the universe when it comes to politics. Nothing could be further from the truth, the reality is they had a ton of luck and maybe figured out part of the puzzle once or twice. Trump has been solving that puzzle for a long time...

Whatever the hell that means.

Trump took the gloves off. He made it clear that personally attacking him and his family will not go unpunished, even from a group of bitter hags. Just think about all the evil tings these sistas have said about Trump, Melania and his children from traitors to racists etc.

Then Trump needs to keep reminding people the Squad supported the Maduro regime in Venezuela where people are starving.

The Democrats have a huge field and not enough money to go around. The candidates that get the money can move on, and Trump is energizing the Left, as Axelrod has pointed out. Long after this summer is over, the Democrats will be saddled with a candidate who remained a going concern through a summer that will otherwise be forgotten, except for the lunatic pronouncements by Democrats that will be running in negative ads on a loop in battleground states.

Speaking of CNN, I was channel surfing late last night and I stopped by for a moment. They had David Gergen on and he was pompously lecturing about millennials and them being very sensitive to Trump’s remarks and the like and how this was going to cost Republicans in the future. That made me think of someone here not long ago sharing a 1982 NYT article on the midterms and the article quoted Gergen as criticizing Reagan about being too hard right and the like and that’s what caused those losses for him that year’s midterms. So even then, this establishment creature was out there with his hopeless RINOisms, even though Reagan’s anti inflationary policies turned out to be the right ones to help get the economy productive again by late 1983 and certainly in 1984 and that they also basically had the Soviet Union and East Bloc on the ropes by then as well.

The mid-terms showed more voter fraud than stupidity.

In chess this is called zugzwang. Dems are in a position where they are not imminently threatened but every available move is a losing one... and it’s their turn to play.
