I chose to put this on Breaking News because it just came on as Breaking NEWS on her website. PLEASE ,PLEASE go to the website http://www.terrisfight.org and read the letters that have just been sent to Jeb Bush in regards to the Terri Schiavo case. JEB BUSH can LEGALLY STOP THIS. CALL his office, CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES, CALL and email the media.THE CLOCK is ticking to save her life.

Sorry if this post isn't " polished" and " refined" but I am not a seasoned " poster" here on FR.

Not one I would want.

Until it's actually time to die. I bet a lot of people change their pro-euthanasia views about that time.

Do you hold that the government has a duty to deprive food and water to every citizen?

No, I do not. UNLESS such withholding is written into the law, as it is in this case.

Now answer MY question - "Does the government have a duty to provide food and water to every citizen?"

Strawman, you are recommending death for others that you see as inconvenient or irrelevant.

I deny that.

Terri is eligible for food stamps, isn't she? Michael Schiavo had her declared an indigent despite the money in her "rehabilitation fund." He drives a Mercedes and has Medicaid pay for her hospice "care."

If this is American justice, who needs it? GW Bush will have more trouble selling American "values" abroad if the world knew of this atrocity.

The progressives in Europe won't be shocked by this. The French let their elderly die of heat exhaustion!

Huh? How did I chastise you? I would have thought your skin was thicker after all the arguing you've done on this thread, rather than to consider "Your assumption is a bit of a stretch I think" chastisement.

I still don't get your beef and I've pretty much caught up with this thread's overnight shenanigans.

But more currently - why are you seeking to blame the parents? Are they responsible for a faulty judicial system? Did they have a say in the fact that this inexpicably one-sided judge was assigned their case? Should they have anticipated that their son-in-law, who claimed to want to take care of his wife forever, would turn 180 degrees once the medical trust - money awarded based on his deceitful testimony - was in his bank account?

Honestly, what's your general point in all this? I'd really like to understand.

I argue that the government has no right to deny a person food and water if someone is willing to give it to them.

Again (and this is the last time I will bring this up), take it up with the Florida legislature if you disagree with the law in Florida.

I hate to break it to you, but you aren't going to find many here sympathetic to your "right-to-die" movement which is killing off people without giving them or the rest of their family any say in it.

Then you are morally responsible for the continued torture of those who cannot make their own decisions, and apparently believe that the government is responsible for providing food and water to every American citizen whether they want it or not. Live with it.

(and trying to insinuate that I am a communist isn't going to get you anywhere)

I have made no such insinuation.

>>The court has forbidden everyone concerned with this woman to even feed her a spoonful of Jello. What the heck are they worried about? She might choke and die < /sarcasm>?

Being non-responsive, she could very well aspirate a spoonful of Jello and die of pneumonia. If you were the one attempting to feed her a spoonful of Jello, would you be willing to step forward and be brought up on charges if you killed her in such a way? <<

She's going to die, if the courts have their way. What's the difference. Is the person who actually removed the feeding tube a perfectly innocent bystander? Not in my book. He or she may just as well have put a bullet in her brain.

>>I'll ask again - at what point do you finally say "enough" and grant her release from her hell on earth?<<

Since I have not mastered the trick of walking on water, I think I'll leave her "release from hell on earth" up to the Being more supreme than you or I.

Until that time, she should be allowed unrestricted visits from her parents, the people who truly love her, and who bring her happiness and comfort. She should be allowed to have rehabilitative therapy, and then, her "hell on earth" might, just might, not be so bad in time.

I stand by my previous statements on this case, and have more profitable things to do today than to hang around here. Good day.

You're right, the Europeans won't mind Terri's murder. But they will USE it to bang the United States over the head for its obvious "human rights" violations in this case. That's what I meant to say.

Though we've mutually and civilly agreed to cease argument, I'd like to add one thing in response to your question about how long it'd take to be rehabilitated.

In my experience at a rehab center for brain- and spinal cord-damaged patients, it was the patients whose families were aggressive in seeking therapy for their loved ones who got much better, much faster.

Patients whose families shunned and neglected them just languished. It was very sad.

I would try to say an encouraging word to some of them, but there's no replacement for someone being there for you, someone who loves you and who wants you to get better.

You HAVE to have therapy and you HAVE to have someone there to push you into it.

Michael Schiavo has refused all therapy to Terri, even though hundreds of thousands of dollars from her malpractice settlement were earmarked for that very purpose.

And that will wound us more than the Gitmo detainees or the death penalty? Come on... they are always against us, but never point out Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Iraq, Cuba, China... etc.

"How about even a year ago? Or two? "

If you bothered to even attempt to inform yourself, you'd realize they have been in litigation over this for *many* years. They've done everything they possibly could through the legal system. The judge that ordered this has old connections with the husbands attorney so they even requested that a new judge hear the case but the current judge himself said No to that request. They've tried going to the federal level and everything. READ MORE about this. Not that it would change your mind.. you are just another "right-to-die" groupie.

"Do you believe that the government must provide food and water for every citizen?"

What does this strawman argument have to do with whether Terri Schiavo is denied access to food and water? Here again, her parents are perfectly willing to pay for her care. The Government need not be involved.
