if this were a terrorist plot could they have been laying low concentrations of combustable chemical from small aircraft over a period of time in low enough concentrations not to be noticed yet catalytic in effect if exposed to fire?

I too notice more of a smoky smell here than yesterday (Long Beach here). A darker look to the sky, too. Not one leaf is moving (no wind) either.

The problem when people ignore the evac is when:
1)They become overwhelmed by smoke and/or fire and then decide they want to be rescued thereby putting firefighters/emerg personel in danger.
2)They have kids who stay, then everyone gets overwhelmed by smoke or fire and dies.
3) When they do die, everyone is upset because the authorities didn't do something and these people died for a house...a house!

My precious valuables are in a firesafe. They are cheap compared to your "priceless possesions".

The rest goes in the trucks if things start looking bad.

I can rebuild my home. I would not send my family away while I risk DYING and leaving them forever so I could try to save my home with a garden hose...

Some relatives of mine live in near poverty conditions ni the back country of San Diego and I tell them at the first sigh of a fire evacuate immediately and start filling out the federal aid forms ;^).

The police sketch looks sort of ambiguous to me; could pass for white, hispanic, asian or native american. Just have to wait and see if anything comes up on the van.

Most sincere prayers and hopes that all will be well with you, your family and neighbors. When all is said and done, environmentalists whose misguided activism has caused governments to stop forest management in favor of "the natural way" will have a lot to answer for. I'm shocked at the hundreds of dead trees that were allowed to just stand there on those hillsides. It's nuts!

Abandoned van found in desert in Oak Hills area of "the high desert" and video taken by boy & his father given to NBC4 TV. Really rough video showed a gray, possibly primer, van, broken windshield, abandoned. Cops have towed it off for processing.

Thats it...only a major rainstorm will dowse this...the next priority is get everyone out safely and attempt to preserve structural assets.

for that last few years the posted fire danger ni the san gorgonio wilderness and environs has been extreme.
