Please pray that God will grant wisdom to the 9 members of the Supreme Court. Today the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) considers whether or not to hear arguments in a constitutional issue of monumental importance. It is the case of Berg v Obama, where the eligibility of President Elect Obama is called into question. This case is unique in that it has been scheduled for 2 conferences. There are other cases as well, such as Keyes v Lingle, Broe v Reed, et al. A current listing of eligibility lawsuits can be found here. http://www.therightsideoflife.com/?page_id=1518 So this is...

Dear Freepers, I've never asked for prayers on FR, but I have to now. Would you please pray for my youngest daughter, who's 19? I am in tears because she was just diagnosed with a large nodule on her thyroid. I had mine removed to papillary cancer in '06, and I'm praying and hoping that she doesn't have to have hers removed as well. It tends to run in my family, my grandmother had hers removed too. She is a strong young woman, in college, and is a blessing to our family. She is scared for a variety of reasons...

You have heard that it was said, "You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy." But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. -- Jesus of Nazareth Alright, FRiends. It's time to walk the talk. It's time to find out whether your faith is or isn't greater than your politics. THIS is the proving ground, and here...

GUINSAUGON, Philippines - High-tech gear detected "signs of life" Monday at the site of an elementary school buried under mud that swept down a hillside soaked by rain in the eastern Philippines, the provincial governor said. Sounds of scratching and a rhythmic tapping were picked up by seismic sensors and sound-detection gear brought in by U.S. and Malaysian forces, said South Leyte Gov. Rosette Lerias. Generator-powered lights were set up to allow teams of rescue workers to dig through the sludge during the night. "To me, that's more than enough reason to smile and be happy," Lerias said. "The adrenaline...

My best friend Rick just called and asked "Are you still on that prayer list thing?" Of course, I told him yes, and he passed along an urgent prayer request. His brother-in-law, Junior, has been fighting cancer for the past year and a half - he's put up a good fight, been in and out of remission, but today, there was a setback. Junior's platelet count was down to twelve. Rick advised me that the regular count is up around one hundred or so (I'm not a physician, so I'm not certain), but the count was definitely twelve. They performed...

The doctors are attempting to move my son, Henry, from an oscillating venilator to a standard venilator. Normally, this would be a good development, but Henry is really struggling right now - I just got home from the hospital and my wife called from there (she's the night shift tonight). Any prayers or good thoughts you can send his way would be greatly appreciated.

This past Thursday I had a tumor removed from my brain, Unfortunately for me the initial biopsy (frozen section) performed during surgery came back positive for a nasty type of fast growing brain tumor. The final biopsy report on the entire tumor will be available this Wednesday. The surgeon has already told us not to get our hopes up for a more favorable report. I need a miracle at this point. Also need your prayers for myself AND my dear precious wife of 30 years. Thanks/Ed

Thirty elementary school children died of food poisoning yesterday after eating a native delicacy made from cassava flour at the San Jose Elementary School in Mabini town, Bohol. San Jose Vice Mayor Ester Tabigi said authorities had not yet determined exactly how many children had fallen ill, but at least 50 were still in critical condition last night in various hospitals in the nearby towns of Ubay and Talibon. Some children were brought as far as the provincial capital of Tagbilaran City, some 100 kilometers from Mabini. Reports said the children, mostly second and third-grade pupils, started complaining of stomach...

All, Fellow FReeper, Henry Lee II, spent the weekend in the hospital with a dangerously low blood platelete count (1-2k vs 100-400k which is normal). While he was released late Sunday, he's been back to the E.R. several times since then with spontaneous nose bleeds. He's been diagnosed with Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, which may take care of itself, or may require surgery. He's also had a bone marrow biopsy to rule out leukemia or another malignancy. Please keep him and his family in your prayers, and pray for a high platelete count in his future blood tests....

My Mother was admitted in critical condition Sunday morning to an ICU unit in the Midwest. I was told at 3:00 p.m. that she was stable, not to bother flying back "yet" and that she'd be monitored in ICU for a few days, but since then she has had to have CPR performed on her several times. She requested they stop resusciating her sometime around 10:00 PST although they kept it up anyway (yeah brave nurses and docs!) so that a local sibling could get to the hospital in time. Her blood pressure is normally very low, and it's dropped...

I know there are many serious life and death things going on in our lives and this one, is not overtly that. However, it is a point of grace. Please remember Jordan today. He tries out for the high school baseball team. Something he has literally, quite literally, prayed about every day of his little life, since he first picked up a bat. He prays to make the team "if it is Your will". So often what seems small to us as grown ups, looms large in smaller eyes. It will be life changing for him, and as mothers, we...

Sister Grace Marie is requesting prayers for her Mother Margaret Ihlenfeldt who is gravely ill with cancer. Please pray that God's mercy, grace, and wisdom will touch Margaret, and give her courage and peace. Please pray that Grace Marie, and her family who are gathered around her Mom will be strengthened by God's love at this difficult time. If you ever watch EWTN, and you've heard prayers said by a young woman with an English accent-that's Grace Marie. She asked me to post this as she knows Freepers are uber-prayer warriors.

I would like to ask for prayers for my father. He has a very unsual condition. He had heart surgery two years ago and was released from the hospital with nearly 20 lbs. of fluid retention. This ultimately developed into pnenmomia and the ensuing coughing was violent enough that he tore the wires that had been used to wire his sternum after the surgery. I guess this is extremely rare. He is very uncomfortable now and he has something akin to spasms in his chest from this condition. He went back to his surgeon and was told they could re-operate...

Free Republic Christians, I am writing with several urgent prayer requests. Since 1994 I have had the opportunity and privilege to teach at new evangelical seminaries, Bible colleges and Christian Universities that have opened up throughout the former USSR since the fall of communism. To make a long story short, I have once again been asked to return this fall to Chernivtsi, Ukraine in order to teach the following four courses at a theological institute located there: Missions, Evangelism and Discipleship, Apologetics, Teaching Principles and Methods and lastly, the Book of Revelation beginning September 15, 04 to December 15, 04....

I could use some prayers from my fellow FR Prayer Warriors. A little over a year ago, I had dislocated my knee cap. The doctor said if it happened again, they would have to go in and anchor it down. Well, yesterday it completely blew out. Just as I was standing up, my knee just "went" and my knee cap ended up on the outside of my leg. It stayed like that for 3 hours. I had to go to the hospital in an ambulance and it took the ER doctor 3 attempts of trying to jam it back into...

I am here to ask for prayers for my son, Michael. He is 20 years old. He was on his way back to school at Job Corps in Kentucky. When he left, we thought he was having an asthma attack. I thought it was just nerves causing it. During his flight to Nashville, he had such a hard time breathing, the flight attendants gave him oxygen. They almost turned the plane around. An ambulance at Nashville took him to the hospital. It turns out he has blood clots in both his lungs. Thankfully, they are small and the doctor expects...

A little over a month ago my dad was diagnosed with inoperable cancer in his left lung. The plan was to go through chemo to try and bring it under control. He has since undergone one round of chemo. The other day he took a turn for the worse and had to be rushed to the hospital, he was very pale and had to be rushed to the hospital because of shortness of breath. He now is unconscious and on life support. In addition to having double pneumonia he has several blood clots, one of which is lodged in his...

The body of my son Vincent died today. His soul like a small child was taken into the arms of Christ Jesus the Lord.At the time of the death of his body our friend the Maronite priest was present and we all witnessed a great shining from within him. I am PINGING you all tonight because we have had a tragedy in our family today. My little sister (Renee, 33) and her husband (Kirk, 39) were expecting their first child today. Renee was induced this morning at a hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. She was having normal contractions for about three hours and then after her water was broken she began to bleed heavily. She was rushed in for an emergency C-Section and although the baby was delivered within 4 minutes she had lost too much blood for them to revive her. My niece, little Samantha Sangsland is now in...

I got some devastating news, twofold today. One, I have lost my current job with Home Depot. I am still trying to wrap my head around that. But number two is even worse. My wife no longer feels she can rely on me, even though God knows I try the best I can, and things were going smoothly until right now, but she has called it quits on our marriage. It hurts me very much to actually be writing this in a public forum, but I am not sure what else to do. My lifeline, my reason for living, has...

I am having a dilema, and could use some prayers. I am looking for a job, have been for 2 years. I have been working for a temporary agency and that has been taking care of the majority of my bills. Update on my niece Emma. Doctors say she is in a coma, another says she isnt. There is still some bleeding in the back of her brain. They removed part of her front temporal lobe and periatal(sp?)lobe. Some good news is she responds to touch and when light is shined in her pupils they react. Doctors dont know yet how her brain functions will work if she recovers, her brain can compensate with the missing parts or it may not its a wait and see situation. I am thinking of setting up a fund so my sister can devote all...

Please PRAY for REV. PAUL WICKENS, Roman Catholic priest and pastor of Saint Anthony of Padua traditional Catholic chapel in West Orange, NJ. In your charity, please put aside a few minutes tonight and offer some prayers for this wonderful Traditional priest, for a miracle or for the repose of his soul in Christ. A Rosary would be great, or a chaplet to St. Anthony -- Fr. Wicken's patron. The chaplet prayers are...
