160 full time residents in Cuyamaca. Plus heavy tourist trade, it sits on a lake. Everything gone. I'm crying. Damn it.

A lot of agencies operate on different freqs...usually the batallion chief has a radio...and directs the five engine strike teams

Good Evening!

Fire is about 1/2 mile from Lake Arrowhead and is burning all through Rimforest. NBC feed out LA is now saying that the fire has now reached the top of the trees -- flames 75 to 100 feet tall and it is now crowning in the forest around Rimforest and can get to Big Bear in short order.

I am sorry that it is going to take a disaster of this magnitude to kill off Liberal environmental policies. Di-Fi cant sign onto Bush's bill fast enough. At least the fire is turning on the lights, so that the Liberal Cockroaches have to run for cover.

If we lose the town of Julian, there wont be a Liberal elected in SoCal for decades. Julian is like a little diamond on the mountain, and with Cuyamaca gone, Liberals might just consider finding another state.

Prayers for the people of Cuyamaca. What a terrible loss. A whole town.

They had teeny grocery stores and shops that looked like they were unchanged from the '50's, because they probably were. You just can't replace that with new construction...

Thank,Ladypixel. I'm watching this one in particular especially for turns to the south.

No one outside CA has yet to hear from relatives in Chino Hills. I'm really torn on this one -- praying for their safety (& all freepers & freeper's loved ones in SoCal), and ready to kill them for not calling anyone!

I totally agree. I just went to watch the Nat'l news, Peter Jennings....10 min didn't give any real details.

Local News.....the only statement about the CA fires was that the American Red Cross (spokesperson on) is having financial difficulty because of it and charitable donations are down.
I'm sending an email.

Does anyone remember massive mudslides the winter after a large fire above San Bernardino in the 70's or early 80's? If I remember correctly it wiped out much of what didn't burn and destroyed some houses well away from the original fire.
