The family might have been willing to give up the rights to her settlement but the issue of alimony doesn't appear to be part of that agreement. I ran across that issue in reading a filing for removing Michael as guardian (I think it was the last filing as it mentioned the small amount of settlemnt monies left). It does bring up another reason why he wouldn't want a divorce....he has a 'new family' to worry about and he would have help to pay for her keep until she died. They brought it up as a reason why he wouldn't divorce her and give his child legitimacy.
As for the Schindlers buying Michael off, the father admitted that it was a ploy by their lawyer and if he had accepted, they would have to try to raise the money (there's no doubt in my mind that they could've done it..I would have helped).
Looks like I saved the wrong articles today and will need to search again.
BTW....I am very much in support of Terri and her family
How much more must Terri's family feel that way after all these years of mental abuse.
Substantiation of mental abuse to her family, one example -- Michael kept Terri's family from visiting her at the hospital last Tues PM and all day Weds. Then finally they're told they're allowed to visit her, go in to see her . . . and are told by hosp. staff, "She's not here; we don't know where she is . . ." The family had no idea where Terri was, what condition she was in, was she even alive?
BTW, the idea of collecting from Terri's supporters to pay Michael off was further refined here on FR to include sending him to a tropical island without extradition to US. After all I've seen & read that it might need to be a bigger island, since others are complicit in the injustice against Terri -- imho, of course. Just a matter of time -- I'm hoping and praying!
