The folks over at DU are all excited because of the Rats are winning a county seat in Alleghaney(sp) PA... Love it.

That's almost a 60% dem county. Pittsburgh. A GOP'er winning there would be like winning near Flint.

"Barbour up to 55% with 27% in. Can we call it a night?"

Has he won or will he win the necessary House districts also?

Here is an interesting squibb. In looking at the outdated county results, I did notice that Musgrave was getting 61% in Marshall County, with 22 out of 24 precincts counted, which matches Gore's total, when Gore lost the state by 17%. Where is Marshall County?

But there are already Arab countries that are moving towards democracy, like Morocco, Tunisia, and Jordan. All 3 have elected parliaments; true, they have kings, too, but all are youngish and pro-Western and realize the future of their countries lies in democracy. Why not simply usher along those countries that are already getting on board, and holding them up as examples of democratizing Arab countries? The problem with the Iraq invasion is that we're pissing Muslims off there, which won't convince them to get on board with democracy, which is our goal; it will do the opposite. The better plan to speed up the democratization of the Arab world is the one I've outlined above. Invading Iraq will achieve the opposite result, and I hope it doesn't cost Bush his job.

There are plenty of cultural paleos like me here who believe in US power projection. I'd say nearly every Mississippian I know on this thread (dozens) more or less fit that niche.

It's pretty common amongst Southerners.

So what will this make governorships across the U.S.? I'm thinking Mississipi has gone Republican, so figure it that way. 28-21, with Jindal still to go that if he won would make it 29-20?
