AOL has stopped pat from sending BULK e mail to her lists which are subscription lists only and nobody gets on them unless they ask to be on them. They say pat has had over 10 complaints of sending spam mail one day they tell he this the next day its hundreds.. ITS NOT pat that is sending spam e mail its the AOL 8.0 and 9.0 Filter they have put on.. People dont realize they have it and when aol decides the e mail is spam and it goes in there then its automatically sent to tos.her bulk e mail has been suspended for 6 months causing a great hardship as now the newsletters can't go out, plus other stuff that goes to the military..  SHE is in the middle of a major xmas mail out right now and can't communicate. IF you want to know what to do to help get aol to realize what is really going on.. THEY will not talk to her just keep telling her she has violated the WHITE list rules and the white list is for BULK E MAIL. e mail her opmale1@aol.com or RITA @irishborn1@aol.com IF YOU want this program to continue
for the troops ITS time we fought back. The troops morale is DOWN in iraq and we have to be able to HELP THEM and AOL IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM.. they don't care that the men/women are over there fighting and losing their lives to protect all of us irishborn1@aol.com.. www.gopetition.com/info.php?petid=3147 Sign the petition and let AOL know!!

Thanks, Memother for the heads up

I signed it.

I'm on an AOL conservative thread with about 40 members and I was kicked off about a year ago for sending bulk mail because, as we do on the thread, we posted our comments by hitting "Reply to All."

I kept griping at them and went up a couple of levels before I got someone who would reinstate my account for "bulk mail." Keep on trying and I hope you get someone who speaks halfway decent English. That's the real challenge.

Holy viagra, batman, you will always have trouble with filters if you use a word like male separated by periods - a common spammer technique to circumvent filters. It's pretty easy to report "spam" with services like Yahoo mail. A quick look at sender or subject without realizing who you really are will continue to have you reported as a "spammer", albeit in error.

I think it is time to rethink your acronym and your support of AOL. Try a service like www.outdoorsunlimited.net. Keep Road Runner if you must, but dump AOL which subtracts rather than adds value IMO.

Thanks AP, you also must let people know about prayer lists. Lots of prayer chains worldwide use AOL, and they have also been filtered as spam!

Folks, we have to jam AOL's e mail, phonelines, snailmail box and any other means we can think of. If you own AOl stock, please sell it on Monday!

Our troops depend on the volunteers from this org for so much, and we people working thru this org depend on these girls to guide us and tell us where to send what!

My post did not make it so trying again - hope this does not duplicate.

Many thanks Atomic Punk. We have relied on this group for guidance and contacts in the "hot" places to send our care packages. The troops also rely on them for penpals, etc. They have been doing this service for our guys/gals since 1995 and are well trusted. We must not lose touch. We are finishing up our winter project now and in full plans for our Spring 2004 project. Appreciate any and all help from the Freepers to keep OpMaleStar communicating.

I doubt whether AOL is being political here. It's their policy to put a hold on any account that is accused of spamming until the matter is straightened out. They are already known as a source of spam, they are bleeding customers, and they need to preserve their reputation as best they can.

A few years back one of my kids sent out a message to 5 or 6 of her friends--a harmless message, as far as I could see--and one of her friends must have complained to AOL. My account was blocked without notice until I phoned them up and explained. Then they restored it, perhaps after checking and seeing that the message was harmless. It hasn't happened since.

Everybody gets a ton of spam these days. It's possible that somebody complained to AOL without taking a close look or realizing what they were complaining about. That would be enough to trigger this action. And of course they won't tell you who complained, which would violate confidentiality.

Another possible problem is that AOL has limits on the number of copies you can send in one mailing. They way to get around that is to break down the mailings into smaller groups. That's a bit more trouble, but it might solve the problem.

If you have the good luck to speak with an intelligent representative on the phone, they may be able to tell you just what the problem is. I hope you can get this straightened out.

Printed here, with permission, my last communication from Pat at OpMale. She thinks it is beneficial for all to know what she has done thus far. Come on guys. Need HELP.

Thank you for e mailing me.. I am sending this letter to every opmale star Angel and others that have wished us luck if this e mail is not coming from opmale1@aol.com please respond there or to irishborn1@aol.com or if all else failes to gritsla@tyler.net
Pat

I spoke with the cancellation department 11-7-08 at aol 1 888 265 8008 because one of the zapped list leaders said they got their account back through them.

I am again being told ,as i have been told, with everybody that I talk to that i have had more than 10 complaints against my account. Last week end when it first happened it was over 100. They can't tell me who complained as its against the privacy act. Because of the fact that 4 list owners got zapped the same day as i did on November 1 We know it has to be the spam filter that aol has installed. 1 list owner as of tonight got her status back and the rest of us have not yet. I want everybody to remember mine is a Subscription List and no body gets on the list without first asking.. IN file we do have name address city state and a short bio to protect our selves that comes to us as e mail.

I have spoken with the office of the ceo of time warner and aol and everybody tells me I have violated my Contract by sending Bulk mail. I was on the Aol White List to send bulk mail and have been on it since 1997 even thought its showing I have been on it for a year. Each time you have a problem and call AOL Cat (community action team) its like you just signed up. The problem can be your email is not going through, you need your pass word reset etc.

there is no guarantee, at any time that I will stay on the white team for bulk mail as the AOL contract says Its against their rules and regulations to send Bulk mail and its at the discretion of AOL CAT if they keep you on or take you off. This I have never been told since 1997. That was the reason I went to the white list so I could send bulk email, news, newsletters, penpal lists and all the other lists I send to the troops and the angels. According to the notation I CAN'T never be put on the white list again. Normally its a six month period.

I was told I had to write to the main Cat department in Oklahoma. Humm guess that is the home office of aol now.

AOL
attn cat
po box 700012
oklahoma city okla 73107

THEY refused to give me a phone number for them/

but still no guarantee that I will be able to get our bulk status back

They had the file noted who all i called at time warner( Both CEO's, John Millers office (michelle) in 703-265-1000 ) Both Legal departments, ( NY, CT, and VA, Media Department, ( Mr Nicholas Graham 703-265-1746, customer care, Postmaster ( (703) 265-6942,
703-265-4670 and 1-888-212-5537 ) this was at NY and Va and who knows where else it goes, where I had to call long distance. The several calls to the 1-888-265-3733 cat departments in India and us, Tech service, and customer care and aol as that had to be reported but it still does no good. CAT has finally say so. Now this is interesting.. One place tells me that Time warner does Own Aol but its a entity standing on its own, Another place tells me AOL owns time warner. I don't think anybody knows who owns who. Every call that was made I did explain the program to them and that I did not send SPAM. I don't think AOL cares for the Miltary or what happens to them.

In my travels with my phone calls. I was told the Media department could do nothing about it all they cared about was how we were treated. Thats amazing. I was treated rudley by several departments, had my bulk account taken away for no fault of my own and they don't care. The Ceo of AOL has nothing to do with any complaints and that the postmaster was the one that handled it. The Postmaster says its not their problem. WELL who's problem is it? I don't think AOL cares about our military or what this program is trying to do.

So it looks like unless I can find another server where we can do the BULK e mail opmale star may be NO MORE.. If this has happened where an opmale star ANGEL has REPORTED me for SPAM it could happen again and Rita could also be reported and have her account taken way. Everybody is told in news letters, special notices, in the welcome letter, " if you want off the list just ask". I do tell them it could take as high as two weeks to be taken off depending upon the volume of e mail i am receiving at that time.

I hope the ones that complained instead of telling us to take them off are HAPPY. But I still think its their new filters.

If you have AOL 9.0 and this is the only place you can see it, there is a section called surge of the Internet

GO TO AOL KEYWORD....LOOK UNDER SPAM AND PULL UP SPAM: SCOURGE OF THE INTERNET...THERE IS OPMALE1
...UNDER COLUMN ON RIGHT CLICK ON.it .. Ihave been told that it shows I have been spamming since 1997 and how many hundreds of thousand SPAM e mails I have sent.

I do not Consider what I send spam

So now you say what happens?

I guess I could go to the Media, fox news, associated press, Oprah etc and raise some stink. I was advised that if the opmale star angels really wanted this program to go then it would be up to them to start making phone calls, letters, e mails etc and fighting not only for me but also for the program. I have done all I can do and IM tired of fighting. My Aol account is also on a thin line right now and they could cut it off.

I have set up an yahoo account opmale1@yahoo.com but its a matter of time if the person or persons that is on my lists decides they want to complain again could do the same thing to me at YAHOO. Without knowing who they are, I can't take them off.

OK Angels its in your hands.

I found this web search interesting if anybody wants to check it out

Man. Sounds familiar. I fired AOL as my ISP 2 years ago shortly after I switched to AT&T Broadband (now Comcast). I'll never go back to dialup again. Tell her to call and ask for a supervisor or someone with authority. Eventually, they'll figure out how they need to correct their mistake.

People call AOL A**OL for a reason !! :O)

I would think that this would be a constant problem with AOL. Why doesn't she buy an email account. There are several companies out there that will handle bulk mail for about 40 dollars a year. Fire AOSmell.

I got an e mail off to the General Editor of Stars and Stripes today. Also sent it to an embedded journalist that was with Ft. Campbell soldiers. I figure in the morning to send it to V.F.W. org, see what they can do with it.

Folks, take the time please to e mail this to your local radio station talkshows and newspapers!

Our troops need these gals keeping all the letters, gifts, extras and goodies flowing!

The mailings are broken down, so, it isn't that she is mailing all the lists ect at one time. Chances are it is a filtering glitch, but by now someone at AOl should have looked at it and said oh, my, we need to fix this!
