There are many questions in this case. Answers, however, seem to be another story.
My personal suspicion is that there's a fairly strong 'bond' among judges, and judges are very loath to make each other look bad. Judges will frequently turn a blind eye to minor abuses of power by other judges, if they feel that calling attention to such abuse would do more to discredit the judiciary than letting it slide.
If Michael loses guardianship of Terri, the investigations that would likely follow would make a number of people, including some members of the Florida judiciary look very bad. It should hardly be surprising that a number of judges would prefer that not happen. On the other hand, I suspect that some of the judges who aren't yet involved too deep may have good enough noses to notice that something smells, and they may recognize that it will be much better for them if they stay out of the conspiracy.
I suspect many judges would rather let an innocent citizen get slapped with a $100 fine for something he didn't do than discredit another judge. An alarming number might even rather let an innocent person spend a month in jail than discredit another judge. But I don't think so many would be willing to let other judges commit murder to cover malfeasance.

Pinellas County Circuit Judge W. Douglas Baird refused to remove himself from the constitutional showdown over "Terri's Law'' on Thursday, denying a request from Gov. Jeb Bush's attorney.Poor wittle judgie pooh....had his wittle fweewings hut. LOL! I think I like this Connor guy! : ) No wonder the "Judge" was so "terse." [per a different article, this judge had a terse response to Bush about his recusing himself.]The judge's decision came one day after Connor filed a motion for Baird to disqualify himself because of bias. The filing compared Baird to the Queen of Hearts in an absurd scene from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
In that scene, the Knave is accused of stealing tarts and the the Queen asserts: "Sentence first -- verdict afterwards.''
"In the Governor's view, the findings as to the merits already made by Judge Baird ... seem strangely reminiscent of the trial recounted in the Lewis Carroll fairy tale,'' the motion states.

Howard Marks, a Winter Park attorney who has become emotional during trials, said he would not object to using a literary reference to hammer home a point. But, Marks said he would never use the Queen of Hearts comparison to ask a judge to remove himself from a case.
Marks considered it "crossing the line'' and having the effect of embarrassing the judge.
What are we paying bureaucrats for anyway? MAKE THEM ACCEPT A COMPLAINT OVER THE PHONE OR BY FAX!!! They ARE accountable. They should act like it.
THE JQQ'S JOB IS TO TAKE COMPLAINTS RE: JUDGES. That's who the Clerk's Office referred us to ages ago. Floriduh Voter
DEMENTIA REIGNS SUPREME IN THE SIXTH CIRCUIT COURT OF PINELLAS COUNTY, except for the Judges who engage in adultery. They run the FAMILY LAW COURT. That shouldn't be a big surprise either.
